Anyone have any experience with these? Thoughts? Good training aid? Not really? Would it really be useful?

Oh yeah, for people who cant unload their pistol, what a great product.

I could see that being useful only in very few scenarios... perhaps training involving close-quarters drawing on an aggressor.

Still, something like this is only a band-aid for a lack of discipline regarding the 4-rules.

no difference than using a bluegun in a training scenario. I can see where using it would be helpful in training. I'd feel better with that barrel sticking out of a gun pointed @ me in training than any "unloaded" gun.

Yeah, I use these in my classes. NRA is very strict about no ammo in classes and making safety a top priority. These are cheaper than a blue gun and are a drop-in part. (Out with old barrel, in with new.) The yellow barrel sticks out of my gun about .5 inch, letting everyone see it is inoperable. In addition, the gun remains functional in other aspects, so racking the slide, dropping the mag, and other controls can be demonstrated and done by the student using a "real" gun. VERY useful in places where one can not legally bring a firearm -ie if you teach a class in a school's classroom, etc.

I'd rather have a blue gun. At least with it you can beat it up, bang it on walls, etc. I know that if I brought an expensive gun to a training class, part of me would be wanting to protect it and make sure it doesn't get scuffed or scratched.

I also have them for training areas where ammo and live firearms are NOT allowed.

None for HK's listed...

Figures... if they did it would cost $69.99, you could only get it from HK, and you'd

have to wait a month before you could get it. LOL!

For training and demonstration purposes, I think it would be a great learning tool for Introduction classes, because you can not only demonstrate, but have students practice manipulating their own handguns when showing proper ways to load magazines, manipulate controls. With a person that is brand new to handguns, this would be a great tool. It could take away the "fear" and allow them to visually see that the weapon is safe. Blue guns are good, but you can show function of moving parts with them.
