Shotgun choke question.

I have my eye on a shotty for home defense, but it's got one of those silly door breacher chokes on it. Is there a "blank", flush-fit choke that I can replace it with? I assume I can just remove it and shoot it as is but I assume that would damage the threads making it permanently choke-less. Any help? Thanks.

Yeah, it's just standard Rem Choke option.

You can replace with any Rem Choke, probably improved cylinder will be the least restricted, don't think they make a cylinder one.

I guess Mossberg has similar situation, but don't know about them.

The one OS posted is exactly it. Just curious if there were suitable replacements that wouldn't stick out far and still be close to cylinder bore.

Yes, all the normal chokes, from improved cylinder (or cylinder if they make it) to full, simply screw in flush with end of muzzle. None of them stick out except this Tacticool Erection one.

Haha, you said erection. I don't know shotguns too well so I wasn't sure if they all stuck out like that or not.

Yeah, that'll work.

You'll need a choke tube wrench to remove/tighten normal ones:

Simple one looks like this:

Fancy one looks like this:

Probably unscrew that tactical one with pipe wrench or screwdriver down through the holes or whatever.
