I'm guessing you are a cat person then trigem?

Negative, Used to raise Doberman Pinchers, very smart and easy to train, never had one bite anyone unless I told it too!

I just don't care for a breed with so much bad history, all bad, of course not, but I don't trust them.

Last in counter was when one came in our yard and attacked one of our animals, when then wife tried to rescue it, the

pit tried to attack her, this was a case where owner turned the pit lose every day to go to the bathroom but would leave it running free,

I live in city limits, my neighbor is a cop, she told us to put it down if it ever happened again, she gave owner a citation several times

for same offense, one day it never came back, I think someone else put it down..

I can tell you that once a dog gets a good taste of human blood, you can never trust them again, if your smart!

Nope.

The Animal Planet has an excellent show they run about dog bites. It is narrated by an Attorney that specializes in dog bite cases. Unless someone is attacking you or breaking into your home; you have no defense.

He says he got into by accident because a friend got bit and ask him to take the case. He says you just don’t have a defense.

The big problem is that the people that own these dogs that get loose and bite people usually don’t have to nickels to rub together. So you can sue them all you want; the only one that gets paid is your attorney.

Hmm, I just would have always thought "my property, your bad", but I guess yea if some kids playing, jump your fence and get mauled it's not really like they were there to rob you. When I went for jury duty last year I had the chance to be on a dog bite case and I didn't get selected. Kinda would have been interesting to be on now in this context lol

I think I always kinda figured if you could prove someone was trying to intentionally get the dog to bite (for lawsuit purposes) you might be in a better position to at least win the case, but I don't know how many cases you'd actually see like that.

Damn near every State has different Laws on this, this is subjective to which state and municipality that you live in

we were out of town visiting my aunt and uncle and we get a call from the shelter saying they have our dog. we ask why and they said he broke off his chain and mauled a girl. they said they were going to sue us if we didnt have him put down.

1) this dog was on the biggest chain Lowes sells and he snapped it

Maybe don't leave the dog chained up while you are out of town. A kennel or something.

3) i missed him for a long while. his fav food was homemade biscuits and gravy lol

What kind of dog was it?

a huskey (considered a dangerous breed as we have been denied apartments cause of her even though she wouldnt hurt a fly)

You bet Dangerous:rolleyes:

I was shocked when calling about renters insurance and while they had no problem with my Lab who would eat anyone who tried to enter that he did not know, they wanted near double the amount because of the Husky? They said that they considered them as being closer to a wolf than other breeds and were treated as such for insurance purposes.

This dog is the sweetest one could hope for and does not even bark and I really have to wonder if she would even join the Lab in a defensive situation.

But since she was a street rescue and the only thing we have is a Vet's opinion, she has now become a "mixed breed" although I am certain she is pure Husky.:) If one of my dogs ever bites someone I am pretty sure it would be the Lab and not the Husky.

As for the Pitts, as has been said it is more to do with the owners than the dogs themselves. Owners who either just dont understand the breed or raise them to be aggressive are going to end up with an aggressive and dangerous dog. My neighbor raises them and while I really feel for his female who spends her entire life in a small pen, she is also a very sweet and quiet dog.

Personally I keep a close eye on any large breed dog that I do not know real well, any of them can "go off" and attack and bite people for no apparent reason. Pitts just have really powerful jaws and their bites turn out to more serious than most others, therefore they get all the media attention and all of them get a bad rap over a few irresponsible owners.
