Pistion AR Upper

I got an Adams Arms Piston 5.56 complete upper the other day. It has a chrome-lined barrel.

It is on a Rock River lower.

I do like the fit and finish. I took it out and shot 200 rounds and all I have done is punch the barrel every 10 rounds.

The BCG is spotless.

So far not a single miss feed or fire. I think Ill let it go and see how many rounds it will shoot until I need to “clean†it.

I loved the POF I had briefly and will probably get the Adams for my current AR at some point. Just makes sense. :) Thanks for sharing. You will want to clean off the carbon from around the gas block every now and then or it will build little carbon mountains. Doesn't affect function, but it just looks bad. ;) I would also suggest picking up the POF roller cam pin. POF-USA Patriot Ordnance Factory, Inc.

I've got an Adams Arms piston on my AR-Mutt and I've got close to 2k without a cleaning. You'll be happy with the piston set up. The set-up I've got is the Adams Arms piston on a 14.5" Sabre Defense barrel with a RRA Chrome BCG, a DD rail, a VLTOR MUR-1A upper and I found an H3 buffer to help the bolt. Works flawlessly, only malfunctions I've had were due to old mags which later turned into target practice.

Well after reading Gunrunners32s post I may not do 2k to wait to clean. Its good to know! Thanks!!!

Im set up on a Rock River lower. With the factory buffer and it seems fine so far.

Here are some images after only 300 rounds. Hope you can see. Rather clean.

I live by the motto that "It fires better with a little carbon on it". That was taken a little too much to heart and when I finally broke a trigger spring on my 92 and it wasn't completely decocking every time I decided to do a little armorer level cleaning and had to scrape the carbon build up off with a flathead screwdriver. I wouldn't suggest doing what I do, that was after close to 1500 rounds of 124gr 9mm, I could only imagine what my AR looks like, but I'll clean it when I have a problem. My other gas AR I clean each and every time I shoot it.

Oh I want to clean it also RW. I just want to see how dirty it really gets compared to a gas AR. And after only 300 rounds I just may clean it up.

So far I love this upper.

Next time I will test how accurate it is. Ill toss some glass on it. 300 rounds is a good break in for me.
