Im looking for a new knife for EDC work/self defense. I like these two most.

SOG Aegis Tanto

Zero Tolerance Scavenger 0400

I like both knives, but

The SOG is AUS-8 steel and the ZT is S30v

I can do without the serrations but its not a deal breaker

the SOG has a Zytel handel and the ZT has an alluminum, I like the light weight of the SOG.

The pocket clip on the SOG is bayonet style (complete hidden) and the ZT leaves quite a bit exposed.

SOG = $75

ZT = $120

These are the points Im debating, what are yall's opinions.

Both are good quality knives and you cannot do wrong with either one. Pick whichever meets your criteria for a knife and pull the trigger. I have own both SOG and ZT knives and would not give either up for anything.

Personally, between those two, I'd choose the Zero Tolerance. I like the way S30V holds an edge.

Also, when it comes to serrations, I prefer one or the other - not both. And, for an EDC, I prefer a plain edge. It's just easier to maintain.

They're both fine knives, though. You'll likely be happy with either of the two.

Both are nice, I'd say toss up as the ZT's are more tacti-cool and the SOGs are just plain solid.

Thing is, JMHO, but for an everyday knife that you're going to use and beat on a little I'd go cheaper.

I've got/had some pretty cool pieces (many Microtechs, ZTs, a Boker Applegate, etc.) but have found that if you plan on actually showing it some hard use it's better to pick up something that you wouldn't give s**t if you lost ormessed up.

Check out something from Ka-Bar that's a little less fancy, you'll end up actually using it.
