Sarasota man accidentally shoots himself in face

MANATEE — A 31-year-old Sarasota man accidently shot himself in the hand and face Friday night after a skunk came onto his friend’s property, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The incident happened in the 10000 block of Robinson Road at about 10:30 p.m. The victim was at a friend’s house when he saw the skunk and grabbed a .22-caliber rifle, the report said.

He then placed the butt end of the rifle on the ground as he loaded it with one hand on the barrel, according to the report. The victim did not know there was already a round in the camber.

As he loaded the weapon, the victim hit the trigger, firing off one round that went through the fingers on his right hand and then through his left cheek.

The bullet did not exit his cheek.

The wounds did not appear to be life threatening and the victim was alert when authorities arrived on scene, the report said.

No charges are pending in this case.

Win.

If the skunk had sprayed him in the face after all of this, it would have been the most epic fail ever.

since all the fun stuff has already been said, Guess I will have to be serious.

one weak .22 if there every was on. Didn't even exit his cheek.

I don't know for sure, but A target frame I built out of 2x4, I was putting holes though the 2inch side of the boards with no problems.

He must have been using cheap stuff.
