I have been a Surefire fan for several years and own several of their lights, one of the biggest gripes that people have against them is their cost, I happen to believe they are worth every cent but now they have came out with some outstanding and affordable lights, good gesture on their behalf

I'm a Surefire fan, but to be honest none of those lights really appeal to me. You could already get a G2 (granted, not an LED) for that price or less. Joe Consumer will see the 'plastic' $60.00 Surefire vs the $20.00 metal Mag Lite, and opt for the Mag Lite. Metal has to be better, right? ;)

Personally, I'm disappointed in the direction SF seems to be going as of late. I like the knurling, and mis-matched anodizing on the older lights. Who cares if they're different shades of green, the target customer (at the time, military and law enforcement) usually cared more about function than form. Function is where Surefire knocked it out of the park.

I understand SF is trying to appeal to the average consumer more, but at what cost? Without deceasing their quality, they won't be able to be competitive in the 'lumen wars' with import brands. Most Surefire new releases seem to be 2 to 3 generations of LED behind the 'latest and greatest', but it took that long because SF actually did the R&D to ensure their light could stand up to what the worst anyone could offer looked like.

I think they need to stick with military and law enforcement, develop as such and let the imports fight over who's 10 lumens brighter or has the newest LED in the mass consumer market.

I'm just an old stick in the mud, though, so what do I know? I'm going to go clean my lever action and my J frame carry gun, then put some gas in my 54 year old pickup truck.

56 Ford Guy,

I agree with you, these do not appeal to me as I like their higher end lights, however they are made out of Aluminum and it is an option for people who want to spend less money when it comes to these lights I am Old school just like you. I sure as hell wish they would hurry up and release the UB3 Invictus, I am dying to get that one!!

I don't buy SF lights, just because they way to overpriced.

Bad value for the money.

SF are great lights, but overpriced... particularly when you factor in the battery cost.

I don't want to get dragged into the 'Surefire is overpriced' debate, I understand how folks can see it from the opposite point of view. I do want to address the battery cost issue, though.

SureFire E2L AA Outdoorsman LED Flashlight - E2LAA-HA-WH

While it seems to be Surefire's only AA powered handheld light at the moment, it does eliminate having to buy 123 batteries.

Snazzy. Might have to ask Santa to bring me one of those.

After all, I have been a good boy this year.
