Well, I decided that instead of enjoying the Middle TN meet and greet this past weekend that I would instead take my HCP class and get the process in gear.

I signed up and took the class at Academy of Self Protection (a.k.a. The Joelton Gunshop). My instructor was Frank Maschhoff of Elite Tactical and he was excellent. His presentation of the material was spot on and his sense of humor made everyone feel at ease during the class.

As well, his insight into carrying for protection, practice, stance and target acquisition was spot on and gave me knowledge that I did not have before. I feel like I learned a great deal and that I added to my foundation of knowledge.

If anyone is considering a class in Middle TN I would highly recommend you consider having Frank as your teacher. You will not be disappointed!

Frank, thank you for the excellent class!! :P

flyfish,

Brother, I'm glad you enjoyed the class and learned something at the same time. Thanks for the kind words.

I took the class there myself about a week ago and will second Fly's opinion. Great class. Frank knows his stuff and was thorough and kept things interesting. Also the shop is a great place. All the guys working in there are friendly and they have a pretty good selection of guns, ammo and other stuff. If you are considering a purchase keep ASP in mind...I've been to pretty much every gun shop in the Nashville area and they have pretty competitive prices.

+1 . Frank is an excellent instructor, I came away from my class with some great knowledge. When my family's safety depends on it, I'm glad I'll have the right info from the right teacher.

Y'all stop it, or else my ego's going to get too big.

Seriously, thank you for the kind words. Like I said at the beginning of class, I don't know everything; but I'm glad I was able to help you guys understand the laws regarding carrying, the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship, and most importantly, the importance of a proper mindset when carrying a gun.
