High Standard/Sears Ted Williams Model 34 .22 Rifle Problem

Please excuse my ignorance, I'm a newb! :D I inherited a .22 rifle that was originally sold by Sears & Roebuck as a Ted Williams Model 34 from my Dad. It's a semi-auto 18 round magazine. The problem is that about every 5th round or so, it just doesn't fire. It chambers the round just fine. Sometimes you can pull the bolt back about half way (so as not to load another round) and then jam the bolt back up and it will fire on the next pull. I have stripped the rifle 3 times and cleaned everything as best I could including the firing pin, spring, retainer, bolt, slide rails, etc. All the springs and other parts look fine. I have noticed that the pin will hit the extreme edge of the rim on the bullet and I'm thinking now this may be what is causing the problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I would love to be able to fix it.

Should be fixable in my opinion. I had one of those come to my bench about a year ago. Sorry I can't trouble shoot it for you without it in front of me. The problem with the last one I fixed was the disconnecter. I would think a smith in your area could get this one going for you if you can't get it going yourself with trouble shooting and eliminating what is and isn't broke/damaged. Good luck!
