Lisa.Knight@tn.gov

Had an issue that I actually wanted to thank the staff of the permit office. She responded quickly to the email.

From the replies, we need to put this kid in office.

Why?

Who cares how long a renewal takes?

I do.

If I'm shelling $50 for renewal, I don't expect it to take 6 months.

TCA doesn't give a timeline for renewals.

Your previous permit it good indefinitely until you get renewal, assuming you keep receipt.

I really don't see what diff it makes.

Agreed. I actually responded in another thread about hoping I got mine back fast since others had been lately. Then I realized it doesn't matter lol

Mine didn't take 6 months. It only took 5 months and 13 days.

Thats true if you renew in person. If you mail it in and you go past your expiration date, you're sol until your permit comes in. If I had mailed my renewal in instead of doing it in person, I would have been without a permit for a month and half. I figured 4 months would be plenty long enough but I was wrong.

Actually several have posted on here that the state has mailed receipets back to them when they renewed by mail, but I'd still rather do it in person.

The only time I was concerned was when I was getting ready to go out of state....wasn't sure if an out of state LEO would know that receipt meant it was still valid. Not sure what would show on a computer check when past the expiration date but renewal is outstanding either.

That is an interesting twist, out of state travel. I am sure that will be tested one day by someone.

Like always, I don't want to be the test case.
