Anyone know anything about the Ranger101.11A .22 rifle? I found one that appears to be pretty old and well worn. It's tube fed with a pretty long barrel and a slotted receiver. There are two holes in the receiver for the cocking handle to set in. The one in back, I can see to lock the bolt open but the one in front, I can't see a use for. It would seem to cause FTE problems from setting in this hole. I'm wondering if there is supposed to be a spring on the cocking handle to prevent this. Any info out there?

Sounds like a Savage 6A. The hole in the front is locks the bolt so you can use shorts and longs. They call it the click clack gun because of the sound it makes. The next time you shoot it pull the trigger and hold it the trigger, the bolt should stay open until you release the trigger.

How could I tell its age? The hole at the front seems to be causing the occasional FTE. The gun is so old that I really don't think it would cycle longs much less shorts, although it would be cool if it would. I use to like to squirrel hunt with shorts. Yea, it makes so noise when shot. I can see the nickname for it. By the way. The barrel says, .22 long rifle smokeless greased only. Does that tell anything?
