Just a FWIW thing for the future once you get good parts, and you probably already know, but if the hammer/sear relationship is right you should have no trouble getting a 2 lb or under trigger to run 100% with about 10-12oz of reset.

Also, your pre travel and reset are at the bare minimum, and with so little room for error you could be asking for trouble in a high stress situation with a carry gun. Most of these demons wont show up at the gun range when you are just shooting normal, but under the stress of just competition shooting (not even the unbelievable stress of a self defense situation), all of a sudden your gun is chocking with hammer follow or falling to half cock etc. I've seen it hundreds of times. The comments are always the same "it ran perfect at the range yesterday", yet every time they try to really push the trigger the gun crashes. Again..........FWIW.

It could be that the gun will be completely rock solid, but if you have not done it, shoot the gun as fast and as hard as you can for at least 6 rounds at a time for a bunch of magazines (maybe 50-100rounds). That will tell you what you need to know.

Thanks, I will. At least 1/2 of the last 100 rounds have been double taps. I am working up loads now and as soon as I get a bunch of loads then I am going to really put some lead thru it.

Next time I tear it down for cleaning I'll loosen up the takeup and reset for crud. Honestly every gun I own or owned has had bare minimum takeup and overtravel. I just ran 5 mags thru the gun as fast as I could pull the trigger without issue. (Its great having a range at home )

Several months ago when I was actually making money instead of just enough to pay the bills I wanted a new 1911 and decided I Wanted the American Classic 2. They have great reviews on everything I saw.

Like several have said you can replace about every part you want to on it with something else and have a great gun in the end for under $600.00. I think it's awesome and failures happen.

I had a bad round of Blazer 9mm jamb my Glock. CCI was awesome about it and wanted the round to test. Replaced the ammo and sent me a hat.

Not trying to thread hijack, just saying failures happen. Deal with them and move on.

Here's something worth checking out regarding MIM parts in 1911's from Bob Serva (Dan Wesson/Fusion) by way of the folks at STI: STI International -

That said, a hard sear and a hard hammer made of top-quality stuff will hold a trigger job longer and better, and is worth way more than any pretty set of grips or other add-on if you really plan on shooting the thing and care more about performance than looks or "name".

I'd pay attention to timcalhoun when it comes to 1911's, he's taught a few of us a thing or two about 'em. shooter>collector
