Notice the little guy in the pic below that is sticking up. It is not sticking up in the pic above. Is this a peep sight of some sort?

That does appear to be an Enfield action. How does the rifle shoot? The stock is interesting to me. Who made it? I've never seen grip areas reelief carved like that before. It is definitely different. That would take a lot of work. I like it.

It is indeed a butchered US M1917 or British P14 action (same thing, same manufacuters, originally different calibers). Are there any marking on the bolt? Think I saw one but could not make it out. What is under the scope mount?

Chances are highly likely it is what's left of an Eddystone, Remington or Winchester M1917 (the American Enfield) made during WWI. Manufactur's name will be under that forward mount.

Many, many of the rifles were sporterized or rechambered for magnum cartridges as it is an extremely robust action.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. The only markings on the bolt are on the handle. It has BNP stamped into it and what looks like 2 flags crossed (kinda like a skull and crossbones exept with flag sticks and no skull). Thw serial number is also stamped on there, but it does not have the W as the first letter like in the pic. As far as who made it or how it shoots I have no clue. I traded a 30.06 to my father in law for it. He bought it frome somebody who trade somebody, etc...He said it shoots great. I know he has killed deer with it. I may take the scope off just to see what's under the mounts. I am taking it on it's maiden voyage tommorrow.:D
