Anyone have a droid x?

I just got one on Wednesday.

Today, the browser stopped zooming in. At first, when I moved my fingers on he screen in opposite directions, it would zoom in and make the text larger. Now, it's stopped doing that. I have to double tap the screen, but doing that doesn't zoom in as close. Anyone run into this before?

My wife is on her third one. I can have her call you if you need her to. She knows them in and out.

She's the tech-genius in my house. She has actually schooled the Verizon folks on a few things. They hate her!:)

Call me if you need to, boss. Before 5:30:)

My wife and I both got one about a month ago. Not had the problem you are having.

Reboot it.

BTW, a new firmware was just released like 2 days ago, last on the 21 or 22nd. I installed it on my this morning and I am at I post updating my wifes.

it is 2.3 something. It might help you. I know the new firmware has much better battery management and other features. I bet your phone still has 2.1 on it.

Power off, Remove battery, wait a few seconds, reinsert battery. Power on. Make sure firmware is up to date like Vontar said.

I don't have this particular phone, but have my fair share of experience with Android devices in general.

I found the update and downloaded it on the phone, when I came back to the phone the screen was black and it says Bootloader 30.03 Battery OK, OK to Program, Connect USB cable.

So, I plugged the USB cable into my phone, and the other end into my laptop. I'm not sure what to do now. It's not doing anything automatically, and pressing the four buttons on the bottom of the phone don't do anything. Will it do any harm if I just turn it off?

If it isn't obvious by this point, I'm not up on computer technology. This is my first smartphone, even.

welcome aboard. I bailed on AT&T last month for the DroidX. I hated AT&T but i had an old grandfathered in plan that was pretty good. But over all hated them since back when they where really bellsouth and cingular. Bellsouth sent my previous job to India and Philippines. I could have went to the philippines to train my replacements, however I had just got married and that would not have been a good idea.

I did not have to connect USB cable at all to either of my phones for the firmware update. Did not even remove the battery.

The update took about 15 minutes to download, 15 minutes to install.

Funny you say that, I almost switched back to AT&T just to get the I Phone 4. Glad I didn't, now. I was with them back when they were Cingular, wound up switching to Verizon. After hearing about the customer service issues and the problems with the new I Phone, I'm glad I stayed with Verizon.

PFM. LOVE MY DX.

What's PFM?

glad zoom is working now.

The 2.1 worked fine for me.

Come to think of it, I didn't even ask if you are using the default browser or if you have installed a new one yet.

Dolphin HD is a good free one to add. It is what I mainly use on my Droid X.

Also, the market place is smarter, better, more options iwth the newer firmware, better battery management options.

I updated my firmware by going to setting, About phone, then system update.

56FordGuy, maybe that is why you and I had it a bit different. I did it from the phone and didn't use a cable.

I did mine over 3G while at work and never plugged it up to my PC to update.

I did mine through my phone via system update. I sat it down, then when I came back to it it was asking me to hook up a cable. Still not sure what that was about, but it seems to be working now.

Here's my history with AT&T...

I had them back in Kentucky with then were Bellsouth Mobility and then Cingular bought them. They were CDMA back then, but Cingular slowly started rolling out GSM service and when it was time for me to upgrade my phone I picked up a GSM Nokia phone and tried that for a while. I hated it. Absolutely f-ing hated it. I could tell you where the dead spots were in my YARD, and service between home and work? Forget making a call without dropping it at least three or four times. I finally ended up breaking my contract and dared them to try and collect on me, as I'd love to have met them in court over it. They never asked for, or got, a dime.

Fast forward to 2010. The iPhone 4 just came out and the folks at my company's home office in St Louis just loooooooove them some iPhones. So we get three and start trying them out. Utterly useless when you're on call because you can't assign a custom notification tone to email, let alone filter email and only alert on certain ones. The Blackberry has done this for years. Are Apple employees never on call?!?

And then the dropped calls started. Of course we have a MicroCell at our office, which is a huge crock of **** anyway -- if the service was that good, why do we need a repeater -- so as long as we were within range of it, no problems. But to and from work? After hours? On the road? Bwahahah... yeah, right. Not much has changed since Cingular was the name on the marquee. My iPhone couldn't keep a call up with Viagra. It's laughable how bad AT&T's network is. They'd surely be out of business by now if it wasn't for the exclusive contract they have with Apple at the moment. As soon as Verizon gets the iPhone (2011 they say), AT&T will crash and burn.

I had the original Motorola Droid last year, and liked it OK... but the Droid X is just phenomenal. I'm totally digging it.
