I am expecting it to be a natural gas explosion at this point.

This was my first thought also, then again wouldn't suprise me in the least if Froggy was right.

When I was a kid back in the 1950's living in the country in AL. There was a little old neighborhood lady who was a very tidy housekeeper, who would mop her floors with white gas every week. Had been doing it all her life. One day she flipped a light switch right after the mopping, one little electrical spark, and blooie!

Kinda surprising she managed to do it for so many years without blowing herself up sooner. Dunno if that was ever a common practice. Dunno whether maybe she was the only one who ever cleaned that way.

Neutral gas explosion it does seem like however with the prevelance of labs around it would not surprise me if it was a meth lab that blew up.

To me this seems to have been bigger then you would expect for a meth lab explosion. I know meth labs can blow up, however this seems to have more punch to it then a typical meth lab.

I would think if meth labs blow with this much power, we would be hearing about allot more of them. Maybe I have just been in my cave to long.

You could be right vontar. Did it level the house?

From the limited information I have seen so far, it looks like it may have leveled the house. I would not think a meth lab would do that much damage.

I know meth labs can be anywhere but I really doubt that was a meth lab that blew up. That is a pretty nice area of Powell.

Seems very similar to the house that blew up in west Knoxville a while back, and that was natural gas.

And fwiw KUB has been replacing underground couplings or connectors (I do not know the terminology) that are not really so old to warrant replacement.
