Jogging Holsters?

Since I hear that Pro-Tech brand isn't the best quality, I'm looking elsewhere. I need something that will hold the gun in place and won't bounce around....don't like the fanny packs though but what about this?

Or this:

Should I pick PT-1 or PT-2? I'll be carrying either G19 or G26 until I get Kel Tec PF9 and that will be my jogging gun when I get one....

What do you guys think?

I'm kinda leaning towards the Pistol Wear....

I know there's gotta be a few of you that hike, bike, jog and have something to hold the gun besides fannypacks....

And no, I don't want Smartcarry holster.....I'd rather save my nuts from getting shot off :) lol

I've given up on it. I run on for the most part streets, during busy times of day and I just won't carry. I bought my wife some pepper spray that has the hand strap on it. Might start using that especially when running trails or the new greenline here in Memphis. I don't carry an valuables with me other-than my phone I'm not the typical prey for sexual predators. I do worry about that with my wife. Odds are I'll die of a heart attack while running before anything else.

Oh ok, so basically, forget those items and just jog unarmed with pepper spray?

Reason I was looking into those is because, well, the time change is coming pretty soon and I'm gonna be out at night jogging and there's been a rash of break ins in the neighborhood so I would like to be prepared if I ever stumble upon a buglar that might be a threat to me if he stopped or tried to do bodily harm (more likely its just punk kids doing the breakins but I'd rather be safe than sorry).

I thought I posted about this here before but can't find the post. I hate the specialty holsters and just go with a glock 19 in an MTAC holster with a wildness tactical belt. It is over an underarmour shirt (not through any beltloops) with a t-shirt and shorts covering everything. Very simple, comfortable and quite fast. It works just fine for either long runs or sprint intervals.

Don't get me wrong, I understand, I just have not found anything that will work due to the sweating and rub myself raw issues. It bothers me so bad I cant stand wearing an arm band around my bare skin. Even in cold weather I'm sweating.

Hmm....may look into that too....let me know if you find the post.....I might go with this method....for a smaller gun like PF9 or G26....

Maybe change guns?

At 7oz loaded. I couldn't see it being a bother

and maybe a sewn in elastic strap in the pocket.

Plus 1 to the smaller gun idea; exercising alone in remote areas is pretty much the only reason I keep my Ruger LCP. It is reliable, but when weight isn't so important, I prefer to carry at least my Glock 26. I've had dog bites that required medical attention twice, once one a solo-road bike ride 30 miles from home (furthest point away, in the middle of nowhere), and once running. Pepper-spray is still the first line of defense (and often only line of defense), but I don't really like to depend on something that can be useless in a strong wind.

*Edit: My Glock 19 is my probably favorite handgun, but I couldn't imagine trying to run with it. I could carry my 26 in a bike ride, maybe, but it is definitely too heavy to run with IMHO.

*Second Edit. I got chased by a large dog today on my bike and thought about my earlier post. I reflexively thought about throwing a water bottle at the dog or unclipping my cycling shoe and kicking him right in the face. Luckily, I reached the crest of a hill and was able to simply sprint away. At now time did it occur to me to reach for my LCP. I just want to make it very clear that I would hate to ever have to shoot at a dog. The only circumstance in which I would consider doing so is if I knew there were no people behind it and it was the only way to prevent an ER visit for me. Sorry to be so off topic. Back to the point of the post, I wear a cycling jersey with pockets and find the LCP works well in a molded Kydex pocket holster. A few of my cycling jerseys are solid but still have pockets so I can also wear them running. I don't need a special holster and the gun is positioned at 4:00 about the same as one of my Glocks would be if I were carrying IWB.

Keltec p3at with belt clip when I run. I put it in a plastic sandwich bag and poke the belt clip through to protect it from sweat. U can pull it and shoot it through the bag. Got the idea from a fellow runner so tried it.

I found a Remora clipless holster at Allen's in Clarksville for my LCP.

I ride a bike in those cheap Wal Mart cotton shorts. This holster sticks to your skin and doesn't move.

I use it everyday and it's great, I love it.

Remora Concealment and Security Products

Not bad....will have to look up on that some more.

I can't imagine taking a long Saturday run with a holster would work at all for a runner. Just the shirt alone on your back rubs ya raw on the longs. Even the shorter 5 - 6 mile runs it is a burden to carry a cell phone

Cover the nips!!!!

Will be running 5-6 tomorrow night in a team run.

Amen to that!!! Not sure why men have nipples, but I do know that if you run long enough that they will bleed. I now know what those silly round band aids are used for.

I know this is an old thread but my wife had one of these so I've tried it by sticking a desantis nemises pocket holster into the H20 holder with gatorade or an ID carrier on the other side to balance out the weight.

Classic Belts

It bounces a lot less than anything else I've tried. I'll continue to use a cycling jersey pocket when riding, I've done 3 or 4 seven mile runs with this no problem.

You just need a squirt gun clipped to the bike somewhere for quick access.

Half water and half ammonia in it. Works a treat.

All depends on the dog... Gatorade in the eyes works on a lot of them, but I've been told of dogs that weren't phased at all by pepper spray and I've been bitten by a dog that continued to chase and snap at me after having a full water bottle been chucked at his head... Trust me, if I ever point a .380 at a dog it will be because I've already tried to 1) ride fast enough to get away, 2) kick him with cleated shoes, 3) spray fluid at him 4) throw something at him, 5) Get off the bike and put the bike between him and me and I'm way in the middle with nobody around offering help. The last time I was bitten, I was 35 miles away from home and alone. I had to ride all the way back to Knoxville with a bloody leg before driving to the Anderson County Sheriff's Department to get someone to go out and verify the dog's shot's were up to date. I absolutely love dogs... Have two at home... but I really hope to never again need medical attention again as a result of a dog bites There isn't much that infuriates me more than people who sit by and watch while their dog chases cars/runners/cyclists....

I would think pepper spray from a moving bike, even with no ambient wind, would be almost always a fail.

So all well said. Except you don't carry a squirt gun with half ammonia and half water. It works a treat.

I ordered the Pistol Wear PT-2 and it should be here any day. My wife actually runs much more than I do but I can't seem to get her to carry when she runs. I can always tell when it is a bad dog day when she comes back and her eyes are red from pepper spray flying back at her. Hoping to get her to carry the P3AT when she runs since it is very light.....more for protection from critters of the two legged variety.
