Because on another forum where I implemented it, people were largely not familiar with what it was and started using it thinking they were sending Private Messages. Therefore people were upset when everyone was "reading their mail"

Gotcha. I just thought I'd ask since its fairly popular in the forum I moderate and its often to carry on conversations.

Understood. vBulletin has a lot of neat features that in theory would be really awesome to use, but in [my] practice have always sort of sucked for one reason or another. I wish they'd get their act together and polish up the software.
