I am looking at one of the small Laserlyte or Lasermax rail laser sights to go on a Springfield XD. Has anyone had any experience with either of these sights?

i just bought a lasermax for my xd9 service.http://www.thunderwear.com

i installed it,it worked great!later i field striped my xd to clean, when i reassembled my xd,the little plastic battery cap came off and jamed my slide at about half way :ugh:

and i dont mean it slowly came to a stop,it stuck instantly.i worked with it for a few minutes then called lasermax.they apologized and sent me a overnight call tag via ups.

tuesday they called me and said they fixed the problem, but during the process a scratch occured on the frame by the take down lever :(:(

they offered to send me my xd back, with a new lasermax installed, and a new uni-green rail mount laser for my troubles,or to send me a brand new xd9 w/lasermax(2 day wait)

i opted for a new xd not knowing if the gouge in my frame would affect the integrity and strength on my gun.

and im still waiting.

so far i would say they have great customer service, and it seems to be a decent product(for the 5 min i used it)but it can obviously have problems from the plastic battery cap.the guid rod springs have a life expectancy of about 1500 rounds so keep a bag of springs in your range bag.

would i buy one again?i dont know yet!

I didn't have a LaserMax for my XD, but I did have one on my Glock 26. It worked, but I didn't care for the way you had to turn it on and off. I think a laser sight needs to be easily instant on & off.

The only laser product I would ever consider installing on a pistol would be a LaserGrip... and even then it would only be on a pistol which would benefit from an aiming aid (snubnose revolver, perhaps).

Most pistols (XDs certainly, in my experience) point very naturally... it would be more effective to practice point shooting than to rely on a laser, which might only confuse you regarding your POA during a rapid deployment (IMHO).

Dog do too... but it's a good way to give them a visual fixation, and drive them (literally) crazy.

Oh, you don't finish up your laser play with a shot? :((cats remember!)
