Fellas,

In light of recent events, I have chosen to put new handgun purchases on hold, unless the insurance co divvies up some $$$ for what was stolen, and have been looking into a 12 Gauge Security System. I'm looking for something reliable that I can leave leaned up in the corner in my closet, only to see the light of the room if it's looking at someone, or shooting some clay. What are some good, "starter-ish" shotguns to get. I really don't want to spend anymore than $225-250... If I can...

Thanks.

Drew

Any 12 gauge will do, pump probably best.

Cheapest new is probably Maverick or Pardner pumps.

Mainstays are Remmie 870 and Mossberg 500.

Any of those will create the desired condition equally well, and you don't really need any of the tacticool junk on them.

The Mossberg Mavericks seem to be decent shotguns for the price. I believe that some parts interchange with the 500 series. Otherwise, might find a used 870/ 500 somewhere.

The Maverick is in my price range... The only thing I kinda "want" is a blacked out one...

88 Security

I guess they are "blued" rather than "blacked".

Pardner makes some "blacked" ones.

Thanks, OhShoot...

Now I just have to find somewhere that has them around here for a decent price... I like the 88 Security 8 shot.

I have the Maverick Security Model,18.5 inch barrel and comes with the black synthetic stock. All the standard Mossberg barrels will fit the Maverick. On a side note the safety is mounted on the trigger guard which for myself is the right place for it.The Mossberg 500 safety is on the top of the receiver.

Awesome... I like the looks of it, and I like the price as well... Probably be my next purchase.

CDNN Catalog 2010-3

You have to literally download the catalog. There is a nice lookin 12guage on the 1st page for 249.00. Sorry i know nothing about the brand and I have never purchased from this place.

The feeling of security and safety it brings is truly (hate to use cliche) Priceless. However IMHO it is not like a handgun, when you shoot an individual with 00, 9 or 15 pellet buckshot they are gonna be dead and it will be messy.

I got a 18.5 barrel Maverick 88 @ Academy a couple of years back for 200$ on the nose including tax+tics. Reliable as all get out and it's blacked out like you want.

IDK about the 870.. I know that everything is interchangeable with the Mossberg 500
