Gun Stolen Outta My Car....

Last night when I got home, I had about 1000000 things to carry in, and it was really late and I was tired. I pulled everything out of my trunk, locked my car, brought the stuff in, put it up and fell asleep on my couch. This morning when I went outside, my car door was unlocked, my glovebox had been broken into, and my Glock 23 and Magellan GPS were both victims of kidnapping... The police are on their way now, and I'm filing a report.

Gun Shops/Pawn Stores in area: I know this is a LONGSHOT, but if someone brings in a G23 with 4th Gen Grips and tries to sell it, I can PM you the serial number.

Me too, there have been NUMEROUS car break-ins here, and everything of mine was locked... I'm so pissed.. It's the same kids.. We all know who they are, they just can't catch them.

Really hope they recover the gun. Does the law think it might end up in a pawn shop? Seems like these days they stay on the streets.

He said they have been finding a LOT of guns here lately. He said that every gun they came across, they had to run, regardless of whether it was in legal possession or not. He said when they find it, I would get it back, even if it was used in the commission of a crime.

Well, hopefully the theft of a firearm will put a decent amount of heat on them from the local PD. I would imagine that's not something they take lightly.

Man, I'm just really glad you had all the information on the gun. Nothing worse than coming across a thug in possession of a handgun that you know is stolen, but it comes back "not stolen" because the previous owner didn't know their s/n and it was never entered into NCIC.

I had pictures of the gun, pictures of the serial number, and the original bill of sale... I really don't throw much away.

Thanks for this post. I realise that I have no idea of a realistic inventory for my guns. I am sure others like myself, don't bother to update their records for purchases, sales, trades, etc, as often as needed.

Make sure you check your credit report more regularly over the next year or so as well. Your glove box is the second most common place to have your identity stolen.
