S&W Sigma, did I get screwed?

it's really too bad that S&W can't put a decent trigger action in them

You would think, with their revolver triggers (not the snubs), they know how to do a trigger right.

That is definitely a sigma! I own a 9mm and love it! Alot of people hate on them for one reason or another. I say they are either weak fingered girly men, or glock elitists!

Or have owned one. I've never owned a Glock, and my fingers are just fine.

S&W resolved the issues of the early Sigmas with the VE version.

The one I owned was a VE version, .40 cal. I got rid of it as fast as I could because of constant FTF, FTE issues. My XD and XDm never had those problems.

Stop it! Just stop it right now! You are using logic, sense, and facts. The ".45 is a death ray" crowd doesn't want to hear it. They are going to tell you how they can catch 9mm rounds with their teeth, and how they avidly take 9mm rounds to the chest to toughen up their skin in case they get shot with a real gun.

I know I do. :)

$275.00 for a used Sigma when $299.00 brings home new is more than I would pay a stranger. Would I pay that to support a friend as stated in the OP? Maybe leaning toward Yes.

I think you could sell it to recoup most your money.

Where can you get a new Sigma in your hand for $299? Maybe $299 plus tax/transfer or possibly $299 from an online gun store to your FFL and then still pay the transfer fee and shipping (except through Bud's that usually has shipping included in the price). At best, you're probably looking at $335.

For every make and model, someone somewhere has had reliability issues. One bad one does not mean they are all bad.

They are on sale at Academy in Hixson for $299 right now.

I debated adding this as it won't make the OPer feel better. Academy is $299.00 and Smith and Wesson has a $50.00 rebate on them until October 3rd.

It's because S&W just put out the new "sigma" with improved trigger and ergonomics. The big box stores are trying to offload the older style sigma's any way they can.
