Gun Bill Effect on Parks Seems Minimal

Posted: Sep 12, 2010 7:18 PM CDT

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- It's been over a year since Tennessee passed a guns in parks bill, and it appears parks haven't changed much.

The legislation, which took effect in June 2009, allowed permit holders to go armed in all 53 state parks and 81 state natural areas. Officials say only two gun-related incidents have been reported and neither resulted in violence.

Only one major incident was reported when a man carrying an AK-47 was arrested. He was released after determining he had a lawful carry permit.

No chance that the Commie Appeal in Memphis would print a story like that.

Nah, they've got a story up about a Memphis City School employee pulling a gun on former mayor Dick Hackett's son in the parking lot of the Children's Museum over a parking fee.

Glad they did. They also had it on the 10:00 news last night!

It still wont matter to some of the hard core anti's. Proof, facts and stats have no place in their opinion. A year from now when there's no wild west shootouts in restaurants by HCP holders, mabey they will print that.
