Finally, I managed to build a SBR that fits a specific mold....for me

Form 1 Noveske lower

Geissele SSA trigger

LMT lower parts

Magpul assortment

H2 buffer

LMT bolt carrier

Vltor I-mod stock

Rainier Arms M4 upper

DD Lite 7

Noveske 8.5" stainless barrel - 6.8SPC (200 yds with 8.5"? Yes we can!)

Battle Comp BABC

Aimpoint H1

Gear Sector handstop and QD mount

TD Scar panels

Magpul MBUS

Magpul AFG and stippled by me.

This was a full on build with careful research into most of the parts, the AFG turned out to be a nice "let's see how this works" addition.

Mo' Better pics to come, but here's a couple, with some vids shot today at the house (yes, I can shoot off my patio!)

I'm debating doing another upper in .22 consider ammo costs, I love shooting it.

I have an 11.5 stainless 5.56 barrel, and I don't know if I want to do another upper for this, or do a complete other build utilizing my Seekins Precision lower. Fun, fo sho.

Sweet build there sn8kbit! How do you like that Geissele SSA trigger? I have been thinking about getting one for my Noveske SBR. Here is a pic of my 5.56 12.5" Noveske Crusader. Also, what kind of 6.8 round are you shooting? I have yet to shoot my 6.8 LMT MRP.

I'm pretty happy with my trigger so far, a 2 stage is different for me, so there's a small learning curve, but a very nice smooth trigger. Honestly, while I like the trigger, I can say that I can justify the cost as yet. My stock SGW trigger in my preban A1 still breaks cleaner. I doubt I'd be the one to give you a "hands down" recommendation to swap out your Noveske trigger.

I have several different rounds I'm trying out for mine. Mostly SSA ammo, 110 nosler, 100 nosler, 85 tsx, 110 hornady otm, 115 jhp remington. I'm waiting on my father to come down with his chrono to basically time out the best round for this 8.5" barrel. More than likely, 85gr tsx are going to be the stock round due to velocity (should pull near 250 yrd max effective range) with that, and 200-220 yrd between the 110 and 100 nosler. I have about 300 rounds of nosler 115 jhp's waiting for reload that'll be my plinking round, until someone comes up with a more cost effective training round. Rumor has it, Priv Partisan may be releasing some next year, and SSA has been talking about it for the last year or more saying "almost ready".

Thanks for the feedback. The cost of 6.8 ammo is probably the number one reason I haven't tried mine out yet. Man if Priv Partisan can come out with some affordable plinking rounds that would be awesome.

Congrats from another Noveske super-shorty owner (5.56 Diplomat for me)!

Oh, and I have a Geissele SSA also, but it's in my LaRue RECCE. Love that trigger, but not in my CQB gun. The stock Noveske trigger is just fine for that purpose, IMHO.

Thanks for the trigger info Seaslug. Man those 7.5" Dipomats look badass! I may need to add that to my Noveske wishlist for next year.

No problem, and as I was telling someone just the other day, Noveske is still giving away free blem lowers with any upper or complete rifle. Hope that doesn't tempt you too much... :)

Also, to the OP, is the orientation of your hand-stop intentional? Normally, the hand-stop is positioned toward the front in order to prevent the hand from accidentally slipping in front of the muzzle. Not trying to pick on you. Just genuinely curious as to why you preferred it that way.

I need to get an Aimpoint micro T-1 and AAC M4-2000 before I pick up the diplomat upper. I saw a pic of your diplomat SBR in another section of the forums and it looks awesome! That Noveske give away is sweet. I ordered my 12.5" Crusader upper 5 days before they posted that...made me sick...if I would have waited I could have gotten a free lower. Oh well, I'm still happy.

Seaslug, Yes, it's intentional. The handstop is basically that, but normally place where you normally place your reaction hand. This sets directly in the web between my forefinger and thumb while grasping the Magpul AFG. I normally shoot thumb foward, and this combined with the AFG make for a very natural grip every time. I understand where you're coming from, but the handstop is also used for support, not just an "end stop'.

Couple of images to explain:

This show basically how I hold the weapon, albeit with my right, not left.

This would be the recommended setup, one low for the rear portion or heel of your hand, the other for the webbing between thumb and forefinger. I simply run the AFG instead of the lower stop.

Does that help explain how it's setup?

Accuser, no reason to be sorry for the 12.5, great length for a catch-all in 5.56. Super short barrels are good for cqb, but I wanted something that would add range and make it more practical than 5.56 at that length. Also, with the 12.5, you can run a can. I could but if I had an issue later, the barrel length kills the warranty on anything under 10.5".

The Aimpoint I picked up for 400 bucks through Botach Tactical. Great sight, but Botach leave a bit to be desired in the customer service realm. G&R tactical has reasonable combo mount/sight packages.
