yes the hognut beat me and won his division! (oh it hurts to say) BUT no more sandbagging for the new sharpshooter!

FYI: it was a false report, there no pics on the camera of me throw my hat! i was looking forward to that, but you can tell i was unhappy.

no the match was great and the gun went bang but one knows where the bullets went.

if it is true there is video out there i do want to see it.

and Wanda kick my butt also.

good job music city on the many trophy taken.

P.S there is very picture of a target with no holes in it.:)

Thanks to all the Middle TN folks who came--it's always good to put a name with a face.

Tad

Glad you put a face with the name(I missed my sexyness for the day without my doo rag)! Congrats with the win and yes he is still a hoodlum.

Glock or 1911?

Congrats on the win, and especially the DC that pulled me from 3rd to 2nd :D

Are you going to do another write up?

Are you going to do another write up?

1. S&W 1911 (traded a Glock 23 and some $$ for it)

2. Thanks!

3. Don't know if I'll write an article this year--work is stomping my ass right now (I've been home ~45 minutes) and I can't really think of a central theme anyway. Someone definitely needs to send something to the Tac Journal, though. Larry set up too good a match not to brag. Got any ideas?

S&W 1911? Would have expected a Trojan if you went with a 1911.

I came away with the match being centered on shooting ability and self control. Go too fast and suffer, take enough time to match your ability and place the shots was the way to do it. This was a test of of ability and not a carnival full of goofy gimmicks like flying cows, moving chairs and boat rides.

Not very many wide open shots, but then again no impossible shots either.

Found a good trade on the Smith. Besides, the Trojan hasn't exactly blown up my skirt, with all the light primer strike issues. It's still not completely ironed out.

I felt like I was going slower for this match, although I think I shoot the Trojan more slowly and calmly than I do the Glock. My main goal when I went to ESP was to sacrifice a little time to gain a lot of points. With a G34 in my hand, I go completely bananas. I probably would have shot this match 15 seconds faster with 30 extra points down (at least). IMO, there is no faster gun.

Fredenhagen commented that there were no gimmicks or trickery--the match just tested fundamentals (and nerves). I thought right then that if I wrote an article again, it would expand on what he said. There were plenty of tough shots, but no procedural traps. I just haven't gotten around to putting it together, and frankly, I don't know if I'll be able to. I don't want to write the standard "Stage one was this, stage two was that..."

Never had a light strike in either of my STI's could be something peculiar to that one. My Trojan has to have a certain PF for the slide to lock back, if i go lighter on the recoil spring it wont feed. Not a problem as I pretty much shoot with loads at factory PF or above, but that green and white box UMC is iffy in the gun (sometimes it wont make IDPA PF). That's the thing about 1911's they have personalities, some of them are not good...

I also think that the G34 is the fastest gun in my hands, my reloads are faster with a G34 as well. It's just that it always feels like a foreign object in my hand.

I think the "Can you shoot?" angle may be one to use, and "self control, do you have it?".

Maybe not so much "Stage 1 presented a blah blah..." approach but a "Competition causes the voice in your head to scream "go faster!!!" while the ringing of your rounds on hardcover is pointing out that more deliberate shooting is needed. Tri-State featured plenty of targets behind real hardcover to test your fundamentals and your resolve to use them".
