What's up guys? Haven't posted in a long time so hope everyone is doing ok. Well a while back I mentioned something about trying to get a job with the TN Dept Of Corrections. Well I finally passed the interview and am now in orientation and will be going to the academy this Sunday. I've got one major concern, the physical agility test. I've heard two different things on this. One, that you must be able to do a, b, and c at the end of six weeks and another saying that the test will be conducted the first week of training. Well I am not gonna hide the fact I am a big guy but do any of you all know what the physical test consists of or have actually done it or know of someone who has? Am I just getting worked up over nothing or is there a legitimate possibility that I will be cut the first week? Any input would be appreciated.

You'll be fine. The Department of Correction academy isn't a police academy or boot camp. Most people I've known that started in corrections before Patrol said it was easy. Just try building your physical fitness up now and never give up at the academy.

I see a lot of the guys that go thruogh, and some of them are some good sized boys. I saw one last week that had to be well over 250 and not in shape. That was on Friday. You will be Ok if you gibe it your all. Shoot me a PM and we can get together. I live here in Tullahoma.

I certainly can not say for sure about the school you are going to, but a lot of the military schools that have a PT requirement will in fact give you their test the first week but it will only be to test your current abilities and you would not be sent home if you did not pass.

You would then be given the test again at the end of the school. Some even give them at the beginning, during and again at the end.

I am with the rest in feeling like you will be just fine, Good Luck to you and Thank You for taking on a tough job that has to be done.
