Cas was the man.

Never heard of him until I came up to UT for college. Apparently he was quite the character.

We need more people like him these days.

He's got a couple of other ones also, but not as funny. I use to live down the street from him on gaston ave in Knoxville. He was a piece of work. I use to deliver to some of his stores and sometimes he roll up in his old rambler with his nephew driving and come in and check everything out.

When I was still in grade school, I played music on his show a few times. I remember getting up very early in the morning and drive to Knoxville and have to hurry and get back for school. He was really a character.

I used to go to the Cas Walker's in Vestal with my grandmother. The White Stores on Alcoa Hwy was probably a little closer but she insisted on Cas'. I thought the place was full of roaches myself.

Round '78 then wife was working on a cabin somewhere up around Bay's Mountain area, a scrawny tick infested hound wandered in and hung around. After a few days of feeding it and asking around she finally brought it home.

On a whim, I took it over to Cas' kennels where they used to be on Middlebrook Pike back in Knoxville. The man himself walked out, and knew the damn dog by name, was one of his store manager's in Seymour or Sevierville, wherever, dogs. Blew my mind. All the blue ticks, redbones, whatever, look pert near the same to me. :)

I was once listed as a Communist in The Watchdog in 1967. But that's another story.

all of cas's stores were a little on the "unkept" side I worked central ave, chapman hiway, vestal and I think there was one on the corner of university and western. Talk about the "bud man" drawing a crowd at university and western I can't remember for sure if this a CW's. fivestring did you ever get to play "uh perform" with Dolly? This was where she got her start. I can remember see her her walk down the halls at school in sevierville when I was in grade school

Wasn't the one in Vestal a "Big Giant Junior"?

The one in Vestal the last time I ever stepped foot in it was a Cas Walker's. It did change its name while I was still in elementary school.

For a while, he tried a comeback, I think the stores were called Food World. I know one was in the old Cas Walker locatioin in Sevierville and there was also one on Chapman Highway near the John Sevier intwersection.

Hehe. no Dolly was there a little before my time. The last time I was at the station, there's was supposedly a guy that had all the video from Cas's show. I sure would like to get with him and get those with me on it.
