Stoeger 2000

:cool:What do fellas think of the Stoeger model 2000 auto shotgun? Just want some opinions from those who know something about this gun.

The instructor for the county school trap club, recomends these as excellent entry level trap guns for the students. I believe they use Benelli Actions, I have been looking at one for purchase for a while now.

The newer ones are fine. When they originally came out there were a lot of feeding issues. The older models have the white front sight and the newer ones have the orange sight. I got lucky and caught a wood stocked model on sale at Dicks (gotta love that name) at a really good price. It came with 5 chokes and has been 100% reliable. It has the same inertial action as the Franchi I-12, if memory serves me correctly. The main difference between the Franchi and the Stoeger is the finish. The Benelli uses an inertial action also but the recoil spring is in the buttstock while the Franchi and the Stoeger use a spring under the barrel inside the hand guard. I really have not shot it much but I have had no malfunctions so far.

You're right about the actions. The same locking bolt and inertia action as you said. I went ahead and bought it, used, but dang near new, only I got the 26" barrel synthetic and I'm very pleased with it. Just ordered a poly-choke online for it tonight and plan on putting the Weaver 93 scope mount on it. Got the mount, just need it drilled and tapped. May do that myself. Maybe. Thinking about getting the short barrel and pistol grip stock later. Maybe the wood stock and forearm, too, 'cause I just like that look.

I've got one of the O/U I use for skeet and trap. Very satisfied.
