Shooters,

Warren County Rifle Club is hosting a 2x1000 long range match September 5th at AEDC, Tullahoma TN. Registration is 8AM Central, shooting starts at 9AM Central. This is an hour earlier than our normal start time, so make sure to set your clocks!

The course of fire is two, 1000 yard prone matches. Four relay rotation.

Match fees for the day are $15. As always, juniors shoot free.

All NRA rifle classes are welcome. Yes, that includes F Class. I'm not sure why people still ask. Have something unusual? Ask, we'll probably have a spot for it.

If you have question about the match, or need drive directions I'll do my best to help.

Chris

I have gotten some PM about the course of fire, direction, etc. I'll go ahead and add it here, just in case.

The day consists of two 1000 yard rifle matches shot consecutively. There are four relays. The first two relays go to the firing line, third and forth relay go to the pits. Relay one will shoot while relay two scores for them. After relay one is complete, relay two brings their gear to the line and relay one scores for them. After relays one and two have fired there is a pit rotation and relays three and four fires/score. That completes match one. Relay three comes back to the line and starts match two. The rotation is the same, but three/four fire first then one/two.

The shooters each have a few minutes to bring their gear to the line. Then the match director will call the rifles to the line. When the rifles are up the match director will put the shooters into a three minute preperation period. At the conclusion of the three minute preperation period the match director will ask if additional time is needed. If not, the match is called to start. The shooter then has 30 minutes to shoot unlimited sighters and 20 shots for record. The sighters are shot consecutive. Once the shooter is satisfied with their impact on target they tell the scorer they are going for record. Once the shooter goes for record every shot counts until the 20 shots for record have been recorded. Every shot, sighters and scored, are pulled and marked between shots.

Shooters should bring about 60 rounds of ammo. That will give the shooter 10 sighters and 20 shots for record each match. They will need to bring water, some food, hearing protection, sunglasses or eye protection, something to lay on, something to spot the marked shots with (binoculars, spotting scope, etc.), a pen, a chair is nice, as is some wet weather gear just in case.

Directions:

From I-24 go to exit 117. Exit and turn west (toward the Air force base). Go 8.9 miles to a brown sign on the right that says Arnold Rifle Ranges. The road just past that is road B-5. Turn right onto B-5 an go about 1 mile. The range is on the right and clearly marked.

Thanks Randy. After leaving you on the line for 15 minutes in 97* heat, I'm kind of surprised to get a good word :D Sorry about that. I should have just told Matt no, and kept him on the firing point,, but he was helping a buddy sort a 308 F TR rifle.

Maybe some day we'll get a berm put in and do 3 shooter rotation, and have fences we can close to avoid having to place road guards. It's a lot easier to keep things running smoothly when I'm not short of people, and the people in the pits can see the shots impact. Until then, we'll make due and try to keep improving.
