I like the key being blamed. Seriously it sounds reasonable.

called my local Acrua shop and they said if the key was bad they car wouldn't start at all...which makes more sense. He said it most likely is a faulty ignition or a loose connection...or????? who knows. I already had an appointment today for an oil change so they are going to take a look at it.

I'm kind of curious at this point. And nervous.

the dealerships are often name stealerships cause they tend to have abusive markup on the prices they charge for parts and services

FWIW, I remember the ignition switches in Civics and Accords being turds that liked to crap out at the least opportune moment.

I hope these guys get it narrowed down for you.

That sir, is epic. Check 'em points?

Had someone tell me they had to jump up and down in their seat to start the Honda. Funny. Replaced ignition switch to fix. Very common.

went to my local shop today and they think it's the ignition switch as well. He said it's about a 30-50$ part so that's not too terrible.

Used to have a 280 Z that wouldn't start in cold weather unless you built a small fire under the starter.

Seems that when the starter casing got cold enough, it wouldn't let the solenoid work and close the main connection in the starter. So, during the winter, I always kept a coffee can with a piece of wire attached to it ( to retrieve it from under the car ) and some newspaper in the car.

Hey, a broke-ass student does what he can with what he has... :P

And even if your starter is fairly new, the solenoid could be bad or have a loose connection.

that will only end up being about 300 bucks with labor :P

I replaced the ignition in my Chrysler van a few months ago and that is exactly what it came out $313.00. It was done at the dealer but was covered under an extended warranty though. I paid TN sales tax on the total was all.

My warranty has since run out but I did get three times what I paid for it out of it first, which was the first time one ever paid off for me. But from now on anything else is all on me.

I have also always been very guilty of extremely heavy key chains , I have since changed my habits about that, car key, house key, FOB and a small medication bottle is all that is on there now.
