I'll admit I am sucker for wood grips. I'm not sure about performance advantages but they look sooo much better. I've got to get some for my 92fs. In the example above I see one nice gun and one beauty of a firearm that should be put under glass and shown off. I recently bought a 10/22 with some great wood on it. Haven't shot it yet, it might be a dog, but with the wood it will always be nice to look at.

@enfield -- What steps do you go thorough for cleaning and preserving you grips? I was thinking about taking the wood off when I go to the range so when I clean I wouldn't get any chemical on them. I read somewhere about Lemon oil or something but have not seen anything except Pledge or Murphy's Oil.

thanks

I have some custom cocobolo grips that were made by "Esmeralda" and she recommends using Howard's Feed and Wax on them. I couldn't find it at Lowes or Home Depot, but I did find some on eBay.

I'll be posting some pics of my EMP grips (shown in my avatar) on here soon.

BladeZealot - those are really nice! What kind of wood is that? I make wood grips for my 1911s, and would love to find something like that to work with..

I wish that someone would do 642 snubby grips in the VZ alien textures/materials. That would be outlandishly sweet.

My PPK/S had very sharp edges on the grip portion of the frame. I made these Bocote grips that extends to the edges to smooth it.

Well, I can't show exotic woods, but I can show some serious positive traction - these are the aluminum grips Sig puts on the Elite-series pistols, and with the summer heat and humidity, they're the only ones I can hang onto while sweating like a filthy beast. Nice and slim, very grabby, not so pretty. Sorry for the crappy phone pics, but you get the idea.

PackinMama, Esmeralda makes some beautiful grips. They are kinda on the "pricey" side...but, then you get what you pay for, right; which is high quality artwork with highly figured wood, from her shop. She's one of the best in the industry, bar none.

They look beautiful on your EMP....good choice, btw.
