I am sending off my application tomorrow. It would be good to be accepted because when you are in, you will pretty much be able to shoot any time you want as long as it's light out. No one else has to be there, either.

This is the next best thing to being able to shoot in your backyard.

I'll be looking forward to taking advantage of the 300yd rifle range, too.

I'm a member, and yes they have a trap range, although you really have to be an ATA member to do serious shooting at the club. One of my buddies grumble about how only ATA shooters have the keys to the trap house, but joining ATA is cheap.

GGC is a nice facility, the only drawback is its on TVA property -so it requires a security gate card to get in, and visitors are almost impossible to bring along.

Hope you get in. Would love to have a bunch of TGO members shoot there someday. I'm planning to shoot IDPA with GGC this year, once I can get my act together.

Well part of membership is the security card to grant access if I understand correctly. According to the website you can bring immediate family as often as you'd like and visitors, except each visitor can be a visitor only twice a year.

What is ATA exactly?

I need to look into this. I enjoy trap shooting, but there's no place close to Mt. Juliet to do it (that I'm aware of).

Thanks to all for clarifying my hasty email for me. Think FIRST, type SECOND! I keep forgetting the sequence...

Gallatin Gun Club http://www.gallatingun.com/ shoots IDPA, ATA, Cowboy Action, and lots of plain old .22LR matches. The website has the schedules. Some of the IDPA stuff is sanctioned, some not. For example, in the past they have run a GSSF-style match on occcasion. (http://www.gssfonline.com/ for more info on using your Glock in competition.)

Weather's turning nicer, weekends can start to be more fun!

Well Ron is sending out my membership package tomorrow, so I'm in! I'm looking forward to meeting some of you.

Welcome to GGC! I'm wanting to shoot IDPA this year as well. Never have done it before. Glad to have a fellow newbie out there!

I went up yesterday to check it out and blow a few rounds through a Beretta 92FS I just picked up. I really like the resettable Bianchi steel targets!

I came home to get a rifle so I could bang away on those steel plates way out there, but due to a smoking electrical outlet at the house I had to stick around to fix that.

I will be going every chance I get, and also when the days start getting longer I'll be heading up there after work if the weather is nice.

What a nice place to shoot.
