My dad's old .38

It's a Charter Arms Undercover .38. It's definitely an older model. I couldn't find anything on Charter's website that matched it's appearance. It's got wood grips, and nothing on their website does. I can provide the serial number if anybody can help me find out the details about this thing.

I don't think Charter makes it anymore. What exactly was you wanting to know? I missed a deal on one of these at a pawn shop for $140.

I just wanted to know the details about the firearm, what year was it made, can it shoot .357, things like that.

If it looks like this one, they are nice well-made little revolvers.

ARMSLIST - For Trade: Charter Arms Undercover 38spl

They were made before +P ammo became popular, so don't make a habit of using +P. As stated above, it is a .38 Special, and .357 ammo will not fit. I do not know of a serial-number date list for Charter Arms. These little revolvers do not get good prices as they are a kind of sleeper on the market. Lately, I've seen them go for $150-200 at retail if in excellent condition.

I have a Charter Arms .38 special also .... my wife likes it for it's size and ease of use .... wheel guns are a no brainer ..... keep it ... shoot it ..... it was your dads ... don't sell it .... you'll regret it

It is exactly like the one in the pictures, except a little beat up. Believe me I have no intentions of selling it. I'm just holding it for my dad while he's in a motel as he's uncomfortable keeping a gun in a motel room. My intention is to try and get him to let me have the gun, or at least sell it to me seeing as how he didn't take care of it, and didn't so much as have ammo for it.

Nice little gun. I enjoy shooting them, but they aren't worth much. Take it to the range, shoot it and get some carry ammo for it. Should be a reliable gun that is worth having. NEVER SHOOT OR ATTEMPT TO SHOOT 357 THROUGH A 38SP! 38+P rounds are probably not a good idea in this gun either. I think this model was made from 1964 (when the company was founded) until the 1990s (when the company went bankrupt), but this information is just what I remember so its accuracy may be in question. :)
