How much ammo do you carry for EDC?

Wow never thought this would get so much response. I have a few rifles but have never thought to throw one in the trunk or truck. But when I am going to the range you would swear I'm going to invade a small country.

if i carry semi-auto than mostly 10 rounds

I uesd to hang 3 mags for my G36 my weak side, but she complained about the extra weight.

Now that's just funny right there!

I usually just have the one 17+1 in the gun. I do keep a couple spares in my murse (Maxpedition Jumbo), but that usually stays in the car. My thinking is to use my EDC to get back to my vehicle and use the other 2 mags till Mike gets there.

I carry a Glock 19 (15+1) plus weak side 2 15 round mags... I carry a P3AT as a BUG (6+1) plus another 6 round mag. If I'm going somewhere questionable, I'll toss a 17 round Glock mag in my 5.11 magazine pocket. So between 59-76 rounds... normally.

Go bag has another 4 17 round Glock mags, 2 P3AT mags, and another 50 rounds of 9mm, and 380, plus a KelTec Sub-2000 carbine with a 17 round mag (notice the lack of a +1) in the vehicle.

I can understand Mike and caring whole arsenal of weapon on him, anyway he lives middle of nowhere, and love to play zombie Apocalypse.

I carry 13 + 1 in the one on my hip and another 13 in spare mag (both mags are downloaded by 1 from 14) and 6 + 1 in my backup in my pocket = 34

Where I live and where I work are polar opposites. True it's not likely for me to need my carry stuff when I'm out in the county. But where I work is another story. Look around the area of Nolensville Rd and I440. Look like a place you want to be at 2am without anything?

For my carry, I have 6 in the mag and 1 in the chamber, plus an extra extended magazine with 10.

2 In gun (1 in each barrel). .410 000 Buck firing first and .45 Colt second. 3 more .45s and 3 more .410s in dual cartridge pouch on belt. I only carry my Texas Defender for comfort reasons and 1 shot was enough the only time I needed it.

This is my thought process... the mag in the gun isn't enough... you should always carry a reload.. If you're going to bother to put a single mag pouch on your belt, whats another pound for a second? This is pretty much the minimum loadout for any uniformed police officer. If I know I'm going someplace 'questionable' I always wear 5.11 shorts or pants, so I'll toss another mag in my front magazine pocket.

If you're going to carry a BUG why not carry a spare mag for it... so my pocket holster has a slot, it helps break up 'printing' of the P3AT better....

The go bag and carbine are locked in the vehicle in a way where a bad guy isn't going to gain access to them in under 20-30 minutes without very specialized equipment. Virtually every major police force today has some type of patrol rifle in their vehicle... It only takes me a minute to grab my bag with the spare ammo and carbine and toss it in the vehicle every morning. Trust me, I've considered a much more paranoid load out It just isn't worth the extra time and weight.

I don't have a normal schedule like most folks, I split my time between running my own business which can at times piss people off - I spend a great deal of my time rooting around peoples hard drives proving men have cheated on their wives, purchased the services of hookers, or have 'questionable' taste in porn Which often times impacts custody arrangements or embarrasses the man publicly. The rest of my day I help run a number of family businesses, which uses a good bit of cash. I'm often running between these businesses sometimes with money on me, often times not in what I consider the best neighborhoods. Places where I don't allow my wife to go during the day, I often get the call to run down there at 2am to look at something. (I'll note Mike and I are crawling around some of the same areas of town)... Guys keep in mind that Nashville is listed in the 10 top highest crime cities, we're not talking about driving around Fairview, or Watertown in the middle of the day, we're talking about Nolensville and Thompson Lane, or Berry Hill at 2 or 3am in the morning.

In my past job, I worked for a fortune 100 company doing computer investigations, this resulted in over 300 people loosing their jobs, usually for very embarrassing reasons... Some of those investigations lead to arrests and convictions putting people in prison.. in more than one case requiring them to register for life as a sex offender. I've worked cases which involved organized drug gangs and identify theft rings where my evidence lead to a number of convictions. My hope is I never run across any of these folks... but if I do I don't want to be under prepared.

Yah, if we include vehicles, I'm carrying several loaded mags for me G27 as well as a (secured) Sub2ooo with 60 rounds loaded and ready to go.

Unlikely I'll ever need that little rifle, but if push comes to shove I'd rather have an offensive weapon (same caliber as my pistol, of course, but the Sub2ooo allows far greater accuracy and energy on target) with me than just be relying on a defensive one.

IMO, part of being prepared is doing stuff the unprepared will think is weird and / or crazy...

I carry a full mag in the pistol and a full spare in a mag pouch. You guys have got me to thinking about securing a long gun and ammo in my vehicle. I may go with a marine type shotgun with ammo in the trunk (because those spaces can get really moist), and store a few more mags for the glock. I am more concerned about being away from home during a natural disaster than zombies.

Since my wife is a coupon queen, I may as well throw a couple hundred cans of ravioli and water in there too.

Having an occupation where I often deal with drug users, felons, gang members, and people who are really upset in child custody disputes makes me feel the need to carry one gun with an extra mag or two in the car or in a a bag. I used to think I was getting paranoid. I now feel much more reasonable, thanks to you guys with your back up long guns and massive ammo stores.

Where do you keep your other stuff, such as keys, pocket knife, wallet, etc.? Do you shoot a lot of people? I'm not trying to make fun of you; I just can't fathom your mindset. I unserstand being prepared. I might need a garden hose, dynamite, and a backhoe someday, but I don't carry them with me everywhere I go.

I carry whatever my carry gun holds. It's been more than enough so far.

Its not uncomfortable at all. Everything rides properly. My keys are very simple. Just the truck ignition, toolbox key, and remote fob. They usually get tucked in my belt. Pocketknife goes in my right pocket clipped to the top. Flashlight is clipped on the offside pocket. Phone is in my offside pocket. Wallet in the rear pocket. Everything has it's place. I don't go absolutely everywhere like this. Just most places.

My location and time period I am at work has a lot to do with what I carry on me.

Once I get my permit I will have my G19 w/ 15 mag +1 15 mag on weak side.

Other than that I carry my keys, phone, wallet, pocket knife, LED flashlight and defensive knive.

Nothing too over the top, but just enough to remain safe in most conceivable scenerios.
