Tonight, my girlfriend and I were talking about Fall Break, October 15-20 and I was wondering if you all had any good ideas about where to go for about 5 days, 4 nights. I just want to go somewhere different, preferable North, Northeast, or West. Been all over the south and want to spread my wings a little bit more. Any ideas are welcome, but we would like to fly instead of driving for two days of the trip.

Thanks in advance

D.

Find a concert somewhere and fly to it. The wife and I sort of did that a few years ago. I was still on active duty in San Diego and she was here, TN. We meet in Oklahoma City to see ZZ TOP. We spent a few days just bumming around and having fun.

I'll probably get slammed for this but...

October is the best month to visit San Francisco. Weather is warmer than in summer. Weird. It really is like Mark Twain said: 'the coldest winter I've ever experienced was a summer in San Francisco'.

Of course, don't bother bringing anything.

Another really neat place: Santa Fe, NM.

'Bout any place in Iowa. The 5 days will seem like a month, so you really get your money's worth.

Seriously, though, San Francisco is a must experience city.

What he said. I was going to say the same thing. The drive down the coast from Santa Cruz to Big Sur is absolutely breathtaking.

The one drawback is that everything is insanely expensive especially food and gas. My wife, her sister, her brother-in-law and I went to a burger shop on the boardwalk in Santa Cruz. Our entire order was two beers, two cokes, two bowls of chowder and four burgers. Grand total was $135.00 before tip. I felt like I had been butt raped, but that's the way it is in Kalifornia.

Love those places. Have visited all of them numerous times.

Just not often, or recent enough.

Loving your new-found color coding aren't you?

:Dlike something my 11 year old niece might do...

Go West young man!!

West West West!!! Wyoming to Yellostone, or Teton national park, Montana to glacier national park, Colorado to the rockies. None will dissapoint!!! It is a whole Different landscape and atmosphere, cool ,crisp and DRY. Not the smothering humidity like here.

Oh man! Newport R.I.! Awesome after Labor Day.

Water, leaves changing, mansions and LOBSTER!

40 min. to the Cape or Mystic, Conn.

Fly into Providence, R.I. Easy 20 min. drive to N'port. Don't go through Boston.

If you decide on this option, pm me and I can give you tips.
