Don't know if ya'll read this but I think it's a pretty good article about the advantages & disadvantages of the one & two handed grip.

Do any of you practice one handed techniques? I know the LEO's do but what about us regular citizens with an HCP?

I use both, depending on the situation. I prefer a two-handed modified isosceles stance, but if you are holding a tac light, you have to go to a cross armed single hand grip.

Im lucky to be able to train at a place that has no restrictions. I shoot right and left and use movement while shooting.;)

Oh good, I get to quote myself. ;)

Using an off-hand tac light obviously does not require a braced cross-arm hold. Indeed, one of the things that makes an off-hand light work is the possibility of it being in a number of positions. But that braced cross-hand thing is pretty standard among classically trained agency folks. Fortunately most BGs can't figure out the odds when under stress.

But this is a good explanation of why on-gun tac lights are not necessarily a good idea. Some People who do shoot for a living are trained to determine the likely position of a tac-light and the spacial relation to those who hold them. On-gun is very obvious.

2HOW, glad you have a good place to train. You actually get to train in the dark?

I agree w/ Mars! Just joking, Mars, take it easy. We're good as long as we don't discuss Glocks.:D

Lights on guns are OK in special, very specific circumstances but are not a good idea for general use. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Practice with one hand is a good idea and IMHO should be part of a regular shooting rep - you never know what kind of situation you might find yourself in. I like practicing 5 rounds with dominant hand only and 5 rounds support hand only from 7 yards each time out at the end of each trip to the range.

My only comment on the lighting issue is most civilians are probably not using a gun mounted light. A small, quality handlight (I have a Surefire E2L that stays on my night stand) can give a great tactical advantage at 3am and most likely scare an uninvited person away...possibly before even having to fire a shot.

i shoot right and left handed, single and double handed.i also shoot side ways and with my hg close to my body(arm bent, gun pointed at opisite side) to know how to control that recoil.i figure if i ever have to soot someone,it will be at close range, and at an akward position.
