Hi, Hey, Hello, and Howdy to all,

Lifetime gun fan here but first time gun owner. Why, Oh why, did I wait so long... anyway. Just picked my first (but not my last) handgun yesterday. A Sig Sauer P226 TACOPS in 9mm with 4 - 20rd. mags, from Austins Firearms in Oak Ridge. Many, many Thanks to Don & Mike! Good guys, nice and very knowledgeable, I recommend you check 'em out if you're nearby, or passing thru. When I bought my pistol there was a guy there from SOCAL who was traveling on company business and stumbled on their shop. I also got the really nice SIG SAUER Range Bag they had. Lots of room for storing gear. I don't know if I've found all the compartments that thing has on it yet!

I did "read the friendly manual" and gave it a thorough cleaning/lube and function check last night and it is just an awesome weapon to hold in my hands, very comfortable with the magwell polymer grips and the DA/SA SRT trigger. Seems to me to have a less "bulky" feel compared to other P226's I've tried before deciding on this beast.

I'm really looking forward to getting to the range (CCA, or maybe Gunny's) this weekend to run it thru its break in :).

Hope to see some of you there.

Welcome to TGO!

Mike (aka Phantom6) is one of the supporting vendors here. I spend quite a bit of time at his shop myself.

Sounds like you picked out a nice first gun. Make sure to let us know how it shoots once you have a chance to get it to the range!

Welcome. If you are looking for a place to shoot on a regular basis consider the Oak Ridge Sportsman Assoc. It has a lot to offer at a good price and is close to your location in Karns.

Thanks to all.

Proud to be a Veteran and to be here on TGO amongst fellow Tennessee Volunteers who like the Shooting Sports, Hunting, etc... and a big shout out to our LEO and Military Service Memebers and all stand up for and enjoy our 2nd Amendment rights.

Will join the NRA by this weekend.

Bubba, I've been looking at ORSA online and will try to go by and check them out ASAP.

Hey if anybody is a SIGforum.com member could you please give the SigForum ADMINs a shout and ask em to hook me up on their forum as well. I registered with them same time as here early last week and are still getting the "--Awaiting Approval: we have not yet approved your membership." I'm Red9MM on their board as well. Thanks in advance if you can help a brother out.

Welcome from a fellow Karns-ian..... If I can get out of work on Sat, I might see you at CCA if that's where you head. Ditto on Austin's--got my AR from there and love it! Have a great time with the new baby!

Welcome to the forum and nice pick for a first gun. You picked one that can serve most all needs, now you'll have a hard time finding one you like better.

Thanks to all. Really nice folks here from what I've seen.

Took my 9mm TACOPs to Coal Creek Armory's indoor range Saturday PM.

The pistol's shoots and functions great. VERY Happy with my buy.

I on the other hand need some work. :)

After 200 rd.s I'd say I avg'd 5 outta 10 inside the 8 ring other 5 scattered right @ 25'.

(consistently inconsistent)

Did a little online poking around and found some YouTube videos (5 in all) from Sig Sauers pistol shooting wizard Max Michel.

Really good tips on competitive shooting. Not that I'm even remotely trying to hint I'm in the same area code of anything that resembles a competitive shooter.:D

But I did pick up several good tips on technique and I certainly need them.

Had my grip too far around the pistol towards to front of the trigger & guard and not well supported with my other hand. Live and Learn.
