Maybe I'm just missing it but does anyone know if you can use a 22 rifle to hunt Squirrel hunt on the Percy Priest WMA's or does it have to be a Shotgun?

I've never Squirrel hunted and I was thinking about trying some of that this year.

If you are talking about the WMA off of jones mill rd I am pretty sure you can only use shotgun or blackpowder

I am not sure thats right. I dont see a restriction to weapon type except for deer. They don't list one for small game. It's just not clear unless I am missing something, which is possible.

I talked with glenn rogers the wma manager and he said its the same as statewide so rimfire or shotgun are ok.

Wow I didn't expect that really.. I may have to go out tomorrow with the Marlin then,

I'm always careful how and where I shoot at anything, don't want anything going downrange if I can avoid it.

I'd rather not take a shot than to wonder where something is going to land.

Thanks for clearing that up!

I got peppered by a 12gauge while fishing on the Stones River by a guy hunting. I had to yell a few time to let them know I was there. Sure would have hated for that to have been a .22 . Be real careful on any WMA, there ain't a IQ test for getting a hunting license. :D

My dad said a round hit about the tree he was sitting against and missed his head by about a foot and a half one year at a deer hunt at AEDC. He left and never never went to a "public" hunting area again. I gotta admit, I think about that every time I think of WMA hunts.
