I'm 21 and jealous of him, because I want to start doing that... But I would like to get an accurate 9mm first.

Cool, how old is he? What gun was he shooting?

that is awesome!! I 2 was wondering what he was shooting. It looks like a Mark ll but it's louder and the recoil looks stronger.

you should be a proud Dad!! props to you for teaching your kid at such an early age.

He is ten and will turn eleven in Feb.

The gun is a STI in 38 super shooting down loaded ammo.

He shot his airsoft at matches for about a year learning all the safety rules etc. I made him a deal that if he shot 8 monthly matches without a single safety issue I would buy him an open gun. Well, dang if he didn't do it.

He is very excited and is dryfiring most everyday without me saying a word to him. No doubt he will be kicking my butt someday soon (I hope).

Don't let a Glock23 keep you from shooting matches. That is my carry gun and I shot it for several years in IDPA before I got all gamey and went to a G34. I even went retro and shot the G23 in our last match and did just fine with it. It's the shooter not the gun that wins matches.

+1

I got to Sharpshooter w/ a G23, then switched to a G19. Don't know what type of 9 you have (if any), but like gsb said, it's the shooter, not the gun.

By all means, it is not the gun. Its the $$$ part. A 9mm is a whole lot cheaper to shoot from my standpoint than my .40, and I wanted to shoot something that will be a little cheaper. That's what I was looking for.

Nothing beats reloading, I'm too cheap to shoot even factory 9mm.

If anyone is familiar with gsbell, this is not a surprising statement.....LOL.

Tim,

Congrats on the 1st shoot.

I shoot USPSA with NTPS in Dickson. I wish Manchester still shot USPSA instead of just IDPA. The Sept NTPS match is the 4th-5th, and I'd love to take you out there if you haven't been. It will be 6 courses of fire, 136 rounds. (I miss alot, so I never take less than double the minimum round count.)

If you'd like to get together before then, I'm a member at On Target in Murfreesboro and we can meet there if you'd like to try out any of my Production rigs. Be forwarned, the M&P rig is my wife's... so it's Tactical Go-Fast Red.

Alright... That sounds like a BLAST. I do, have to talk to the warden though. I will let you know. Thanks a million!

Also, first time shooters at NTPS shoot for free.

Don't hesitate to ask questions either. Probably the best thing about our club is the talent pool, and the willingness of those incredible shooters to help you. We all want everyone at our club to kick butt with a handgun.:)

I can vouch for that. A little over a year ago I was a total newbie and Tim took me under his wing. Now I'm totally hooked. NTPS has a very deep talent pool, and everybody is very welcoming and helpful, especially with advice on equipment, technique, etc.

Come out and give us a try on the 4th & 5th. First time shooters shoot for free. We only start charging after you're hooked ;-)
