Was just wondering if anyone had any experience with BSA brand scopes? Looking at one of the Sweet 270 scopes for a deer rifle. It has the changable knobs for different grain bullets for compensating bullet drop from 0-400 yards. I have never owned one and was wanting to know if they are any good. Thanks guys.

I have a BSA red-dot which I rarely if ever use... I originally bought it for the Ruger and S&W .22 pistols I had, but quickly realized that it wasn't any more accurate than the sights, and stowed it away in a box for a year or two.

I got it out and mounted it on my AK, just for gits and shiggles, but I doubt that I'll try to fire it with this goofy thing on it.

In short, it works, and was worth the price. But I don't consider it a precision instrument.

Same here, one on my .22.

The saying was probably never so true in that you get what you pay for in optics though. If you have a good 270, do her up right with some decent glass. Burris/Simmons low end stuff is at the bottom of a list but probably still miles ahead of BSA, After that its just levels of good to great ending up in the Zeiss area!

I had a 3x9x40 on my .30-06 a few years ago and it wouldn't hold zero to save it's life. I replaced it with a Nikon Monarch and never looked back. You usually do get what you pay for when it comes to optics.

I've had a couple of them. One was a Sweet 17 on my .17 Savage. The other is an 8-32x44 Platinum on my .308 Remington 700 1/8 moa clicks. I've liked both just as well as Leupolds and Nikons.

+1 on SWFA

If your not in a hurry, you can wait for sales sometimes through them or specials where you get extra stuff. I got a spotting scope with my Burris 3-9X last time I ordered through them. I think you can still get a GPS unit with one of their scopes now.

One of the better inexpensive scopes. I've got one on my sons .22lr. I believe they're a teensy bit better than TASCO.

The reason I was looking at them was for the bullet drop compensator dials. If you know your yardage just turn the dial to match and your crosshairs will be dead on at that range (supposedly up to 400 yards). The price at Cabelas is $150, for a 3x10x44AO. These are fairly new and like I said, I don't have any experience with these.

I was also looking at the Pride-Fowler and Shepard Scopes but they go from $400-$600 but they have the yardage crosshairs etched on the lens, you just set the zero at 200 yards and go from 0 up to 600 yards, but like I said they are pricy!!

I have a BSA 4X16 mil dot on a Ruger 10/22. The scope has done what it was intended to do....presents a clear target, consistently holds POA, etc. Don't think I would use it on a highpowered rifle, but some have. I use Mueller scopes on any thing above .22.

BSA makes these Sweet series scopes that are designed for calibers up through 30-06. I can't imagine that they won't hold up on rifles they were designed for.
