ruger m77

i just picked up a ruger m77 stainless in 7mm mag. it really needs a trigger job. i guess my question is, are they able to be adjusted like a remington 700?

Thats how I would go about it but that is defiantly not as easy as a 700. I would think it would be easier to just get a timney drop in and have easily changeable adjustments unless you wanted to go about this process. Remember that once its gone (metal) it ain't coming back. I have to disagree with the M77 MKII being one of the easiest triggers to work.....that would be the venerable model 70.

yeah, i'm not looking forward to feeding this beast....i have stock piles of 30 06, guess it is time to build up the 7mm stuff(i only have 1 box)

thanks for the info, i don't see how that could be easier than a 700! i think this might be getting a timney trigger kit...i don't feel good about grinding and drilling on my trigger parts! lol

As far as feeding the beast, it is not a plinker. You don't need that many rounds for a LW magnum rifle. I have dies you can use, I am sure we can find some brass as most folks don't reload for the 7 mag but a lot of people shoot it. Cost of reloading it is not much more than a 06. Do you still have those magnum primers? I have a couple pounds if IMR 7828, so we should be in business as soon as you come up with a little more brass.

Any competent gunsmith can improve the factory trigger for you for a nominal fee. If you don't completely understand the inner workings of the trigger, I'd discourage you from stoning on it yourself. I agree with GunTroll; the Model 70 Winchester had the perfect trigger. Why they changed it, I don't know.
