So who actually open carrys?

first off, this is not a debate about OC vs CC!! I'm not asking why you do or don't OC. I just want to know how many people actually OC. And I'd like to know what kind of reactions you have gotten.

I will OC occasionally if I'm headed to the range or to certain places I know are gun friendly such as gun stores etc. I've never had a bad experience. Most people ask if I'm a cop.

So, I'm just curious because I've never seen anyone else OC around Knoxville. I'm sure it's more common in rural areas however. So, if you do OC, how often do you do it and what kind of reactions do you get.

Again, please don't turn this into a debate.

I don't open carry because I don't like interacting with other people, and detest the myriad of stupid questions that open carry would entail. I have noticed that I've seen several people in the last couple of weeks open carrying. I'd like to see it become accepted, but I don't have the temperment to help it forward.

you completely missed the part of me saying please don't tell me why you don't open carry!!!!!!

I used to OC when living in AZ as an approved CC permit holder. I only had the CC for he occasion when carrying that way was desirable to me. I am in the process of getting squared away with my carry permit here and I intend to carry OC. Bringing a lil of the wild west here to TN I guess. I am all for being gun pro and only by letting folks see that a person can own a gun, carry it in public and portray a positive responsible image rather that shown by mainstream media.

I normally CC, but I will OC from time to time. Just depends on where I'm going and what I'm doing. Even when I do CC it's not deep cover. I don't believe in burying it so deep it's useless.

Glad to hear it, hopefully people will start to be more accustomed to it and it won't seem as taboo. I've OC'd at the wal-mart gas stations, grocery stores, buddy's bbq...all sorts of places w/o incident. I'm amazing that most people don't even notice!!!

Sorry. I sure did misread. I thought it said "tell my why you do or don't open carry.":hiding:

no worries, and yes I would like to see it more accepted as well!

When I get my HCP, when they stop dragging a55 and process me, I plan to mostly CC. However there will be times I will probably OC but that will be less common.

I prefer to CC, but that's because with OC on my hip, my gun is right where my hand would rest, and that makes people even more nervous. If I get a holster for a different position, preferably should, then I'll carry a lot more open. In my opinion an openly armed population is what the founding fathers wanted. People with guns on them and in the open walking the streets all across the country.

Dude a cop is about the last thing I would think of if I saw you OCing, LOL

I do not do it as I do not want the attention it will bring. Stay gray.

So you want to scare the sheep?

The truth is discretion is the better part of valor. I have occasions in my job where OC is the way to go. Eliminates a lot of problems. But in normal day to day stuff, CC is the intelligent course of action.

I gave a answer you specifically did not ask for because I do what I want when I want ;)

The last time I OC'ed was at Regions Bank. The staff and patrons didn't seem to like it too much. ;)

The only time I have OC'ed was at the range. I'm CC'ing everywhere else, as long as it's legal

it really depends on the gun.

If I carry my glock. it is defineatly open carry, there is no real concealing it anyways.

If I carry my beretta, it is in a IWB holster. So kindof concealed.
