All my life I had been wondering why Zip Codes were so important. I know there are multiple states with the same city, but they're still in different STATES so how can someone screw that up. I bought some Crocs a week or so ago, and the left strap always came loose. I live in Murfreesboro, and when they sent me a replacement clip mechanism... This is what the package said.

I work for the USPS and see things like this very frequently .....

ever wonder how the zip code system works?

think of the country as being divided into 10 sections

the first number of your zip code designates a particular region of the country

the lower numbers ( 0, 1, ) are in the Northeast

zips begginning with 2 and 3 still East but abit more South

this continues westward with zips starting with 9 being West coast , Alaska, and Hawaii

the next number of your zip code seperates those 10 regions into 10 smaller regions each ....

with each number, the regions " drill down " smaller and smaller

and those extra add on four numbers,

they drill it right down to the street/house in your particular town .
