I have two plumbing issues that need to be fixed at my house. I need the water spigot that connects to my refrigerator ice box replaced and just yesterday my disposal died. Anyone know a good plumber that wont rip me off? Thanks.

You do NOT need one to replace the disposal, unless you just don't wanna.

I would rather do it myself, but sadly, I am not very mechanical. And I really dont know whats even wrong with it. One second it worked, the next nothing. Could be a simple fix, could need complete replacement. I have no idea.

Did "someone" shove something in it that wasn't supposed to go down it? i.e. Chili, grease, large amounts all at once? If so, all you need is one of those $5 handles that turn it and loosen it up. There should be a "reset" button on the bottom of it, too.

The medium-sized allenhead tool he speaks of is found dead center of the bottom of the unit, and the reset isn't very far from it, I'm sure you discovered. If when you turn it on it just hums, that's a good sign of a simple jam. Make sure it's off before you try to turn it in either direction. For this or the new one you're thinking about getting, I've heard that you should only use cold water when operating it, as the motor needs cold water to cool it during operation.

Thanks for the help guys. My disposal doesn't make any noise what-so-ever. I have tomorrow off so I am going to dive into it and see if I can fix it. If I cant, haha, at least I got a recommendation (thanks kb4ns).

You may be lucky and find that it just plugs into a wall behind the sink. If so, put a cheap circuit tester ($10?) in to know if you have power. You need one for your tool box anyway.
