Rust on a new Beretta Px4 storm subcompact

I took my gun out of the holster yesterday and found rust on the disassembly latch on this gun.

It isn't even a week old yet, I haven't even fired 100 rounds through it.

Any thoughts on the next step for preventing this. Do I need to contact Beretta about this. or is it something I just need to keep on top of with this gun.

My other gun is a Glock 34 and I haven't even seen the hint of any rust on it for the several years I've owned it.

ouch, that's no good. I would definitely call Beretta, but I've heard their customer service is horrible so good luck.

Pics of the rusted area would help.

It's been very hot and humid lately, if you've been carrying it up against your body and not wiping it down daily, some surface rust is inevitable. Perhaps the disassembly latch on your gun didn't get the best bluing job. Glocks are mostly plastic, so obviously they aren't as prone to corrosion.

Did you clean it really good? I ask because sometimes the packing grease that is used will have a rust color to it when it mixes with some cleaners. It may be where a little of that has collected there.

Will have pics when I get home tonight. Sometime around 11:00pm
