Have no idea of the validity of those "proposals" currently... but that is a pretty old report, what with Lou still being on CNN, minimum about 9 months.

Have also not heard of ANY of those provisions discussed since, so again, just don't know what sources Beohner or the Heritage Foundation used in the report he mentions.

Have no doubt that somebody "proposed" them, but actually getting them into a bill is another matter.

So I guess I'm gonna use a large grain of salt for now on this, as far as those proposals becoming law -- although I'm sure that whatever "immigration reform" bill that does eventually emerge will be another Obamanation. Hopefully, there will be change enough in the House/Senate to block it. On the other hand, the GOP has seemed about as ready to hand over the country to Mexico as the Dems.

I don't watch CNN, so I didn't know whether or not Lou was still on there....I haven't followed up to check on the current status of the issue, but the simple fact that it was proposed makes me concerned.

All kinds of things are proposed in bills that never get out of committee.

Sometimes we hear about some of the nuttier stuff, but much is never reported.

Many, probably the majority, of full bills never get out of committee, either. There are some that are submitted year after year.

I think some form of the "assault weapons ban" is pretty much a perennial, for example.

I'd say with all the foaming re immigration, we'll hear ample news about whatever bill finally gets legs enough to have a chance of being enacted.

With all the nutty stuff that made it in the health care

bill, and this congress, I wouldn't be surprised if there

was a paragraph stating how to fix a dishwasher, in

Swahili, included.

Come on, get real, 6.8... more likely a paragraph granting billions to Swahilis to buy dishwashers.

Am I paranoid for thinking they are deliberately attempting to debase/destroy our currency by spending far beyond what can, realistically, ever be recovered through taxes?

Not at all, friend. And more should be paranoid.

If anyone's thinking about the type of bill that will get passed during the "post-November-lame-duck" session, it will be something like this. The Big O picks up an instant 10 million Democrat voters to keep him intact in 2012.

That's in the tea leaves for them.

If you watch the crawler, it mentions Bush's firing of those 8 U.S. DA's, which happened in late 2006.

I use GovTrack: Trackers to watch for crazy stuff. It allows you to do a search for keywords as well. In all actuality very few bills get passed and most introduced legislation is nothing more than just propaganda that the lawmakers use to show they are against or for something.

Right now there are 476 bills that have been introduced dealing with immigration. Some are for and some are against but all it takes is one.

Each congress starts with the slate is clean. Every bill needs to be reintroduced and go thru the process again. Now there might be times when they can expedite things based on how far it had progressed during the previous congressional session. As was already said, every year since the sunset of the assault weapons ban there has been a similar or even more in depth ban introduced, but so far they haven't had enough support to go anywhare.

What really scares is that when all the dems get voted out in midterms they are going to pass things they haven't tried before. At that point I believe they they will think they have nothing left to loose and will spend the last bit of their time doing irreparable damage to our nation.

It is fact that the dems use all kinds of underhanded tactics to get things passes that scares me as well. Like the 1986 MG ban for example, William Hughes (D-N.J.) proposed the amendment late in debate and at night when most of the members of the House were gone. Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.)[IMAGINE THAT!], a long proponent of gun control, was presiding over the House at that time and a voice vote was taken. Despite the fact that the bill appeared to fail, Rep. Rangel declared the amendment approved and it was incorporated into House Bill 4332. Once passing the House, H.R.4332 was incorporated in its entirety into S.49. The Senate passed the final S.49 on April 10, 1986 by voice vote and it was signed by the President on May 19, 1986. This was done during the Reagan years and I feel the dems have s lot more power now than they did back then.

This would be one of the tactics they use and I suspect we are going to get a real screwing in the months to come when they do loose the midterms.
