¡Hola Fellas!

I have a question, I want to start in on the IDPA or whatever kind of competitive shooting that's close to the Nashville Area and that is fun. I am extremely competitive, so if I go out and get drilled Saturday after Saturday, I will probably quit and never do it again, so I was looking for somewhere to start as a baby where I can be competitive and have a little fun, I really don't care about winning (for now) I just wanna be competitive. Any Ideas?

Thanks Already,

Drew.

IDPA is a great place to start, especially if you are using a "normal" everyday carry gun. I started with IDPA some years ago and really enjoyed it, and now I shoot a little bit of everything. I used to shoot semi-regularly in the Nashville area, I'm sure there are some clubs close. Check the IDPA page for club locations.

I second the MCTS shoots. I went for my first time this past weekend and had a blast.

Greg, is the upcoming one still going to be a short match?

I PM'd him and that's what he said. He said it was only 4-5 stages, IIRC. Because they have their annual meeting afterward.

The guys at MCTS are very cool and you will surely have a good time shooting with them. You should also consider shooting IDPA at with us at Middle Tennsee Shooters Club in Manchester since you are in Murfeesboro. Our next club match is Sunday September 5th at 1:00. We'll be shooting 8 stages and around 113 rounds. You can PM me with any questions. Gallatin gun club is also a good place to go for a match. I went out there today and had a great time. You really can't go wrong with any IDPA club around here. They are all full of really friendly people that can help get you started.

You may also want to look at USPSA as well as IDPA since you really mentioned your competitive nature. Here's a quick comparison of the two.

IDPA / IPSC Comparison

If you have any interest in USPSA here's a club that shoots in Dickson and appears to shoot at the same range as MCTS club due to the address, just on a different weekend. NTPS Home Page

I also would be very interested in competitive shooting sports. Tactical shooting sports has always been something I've wanted to get into.
