TWRA Range in Bartlett

I was wondering if anyone has been to the TWRA range on Brother Blvd in Bartlett?

It seems like most people from the area seem to go to RangeMaster or RUSA, but I was wondering if the 4 dollars on lane fees I would save by going to the TWRA range would be worth it.

Any info about the range would be nice.

Thanks!

They shoot IDPA there on Tuesday night. I haven't as of yet, but it is a nice facility. I took my stepson to get his hunter safety there.

It's your basic 25 yard indoor range. Hard to go wrong. You just have to look closely at the schedule and go when it's open. I don't know how the staff is. I've shot there many times, but never with TWRA staff. My department shares that range with TWRA (it was our land, their building - so we share it).

Just got back from the TWRA range. They were supposed to be closing early b/c someone had rented the whole range. However, that guy hadn't shown up yet so they let me shoot. $8.50 gets you an hour on the lane, more if there is no one there, and either 1 silhouette target or 2 bullseye targets. The range wasn't very hot inside and it seemed ventilated well. There was only me and one other guy there. The clips for the targets were very far apart and would only accommodate the large paper targets unless you clipped a small one to only one side. So, from a shooters perspective it was nice.

From a safety perspective, it was a little iffy, but that could be because there were only two of us. There was no rangemaster, only the TWRA officer who sat in his office the whole time except to get me set up.

Definitely worth a trip back to see if it is any different on a normal day.

If it helps you to feel better, there are cameras in the range and I'm fairly sure there are monitors in the TWRA officer's office.

LOL oh more than you know. I'm a Miami Vice fanatic. I remember it from when I was little, but I watched it years back when they ran it on TNN again. My friend's all say I'm stuck in the 80's too so I imagine we will get along lol

Ya, you could totally forgo asking for Mr. Crockett and just look for the guy in the tropical-pastel colored linen suit. :P

If we ever get a free Saturday...which is a challenge these days...maybe HP and I can check this place out. i've never been...I did my range portion of my hunter safety course at the old Shelby Farms range, lol.
