I saw some there today. $17 and change for 50 (I assume it was 50)

I had actually never seen this round before. I had the department helper open the box for me and make sure.

Needless to say, I would not like to get shot with one of those. mercy!

That is an INCREDIBLE deal!! Dick's will hit you for $50/box of 50 and local gun shops will be near $35-40/box of 50. It's off to my Wally World to see if K-town has a similar inventory!!! Thanks for posting this!!

I think that is a box of 20 or 25. Can't recall exactly but I have seen them at Walmart too

Just called that particular Walmart and you are correct -- 17.97 for 20 rounds. Sorry, glad someone made the correction. I'll try and get my facts straight next time.

also known as .45colt its what the Colt Single Action Army (SAA) is commonly chambered in. fwiw

In fact, 45 Colt is THE name of the cartridge. There is no 45 Short Colt. I don't know why people insist on adding the "Long" moniker to it.

There in fact WAS a .45 Short Colt. If you ever find any , they are purely collector's items.

There was also the 45 Scofield, aka 45 Smith & Wesson, that was for the SW Scofield Number 3's. The shorter SW cartridge could be chambered in the Colt SAA but the 45 Long Colt could not be used in the Scofield which led to it's demise. But from what I have read they were popular for a while in Calvary units because they could be reloaded quickly on horseback with one hand and outfits that had both pistols used the 45 Scofield since it would interchange with both revolvers.

I use it a lot in my Ruger 454!

The amazing thing is that with a pound of bullseye, $25 in primers, and a good search of cast lead bullet prices...you can load 1000 rounds for less than $100

If you have the brass that is....still not expensive since you can reload them low pressure a LOT....20-30 times with quality brass
