I think somebody in the kitchen found they had a cup and a half of cornbread mix and almost a whole cake mix and said, "Waste not, want not."

that sounds nothing like what I had. My tasted like classic cornbread with blueberries mixed in. Not mushy at all and definitely not like cake mix. I suggest you make your own.
