Do you actually name your guns? My German friend names his Taurus .45 "Amber" and my wife calls her SIG239 "Monster." Never occured to me. Pics are welcomed in this short thread.

Of course. my EDC Springfield XD45 is Betty and she is indeed black. She gets her name from this song which also my all-time favorite driving song

She lived in Nashville. Went to the same College as my wife. Although I dont think it was part of Vanderbilt when she attended.

Have never felt the calling. But, if so I would expect to use female names. Kind of like hurricanes (only female names back in the pre-lib days). Same concept.

I am just a computer tech and think of things in computer terms. Mine guns are just a Simple Lead Delivery Systems (SLDS).

However, so far all my guns have been give to me by my dad. I am about to by my first gun, which I suspect I will be buying several before Christmas. I don't know if I will name any of them, but I do plan to have some engraving done on them maybe.

Actually from the play The Mourning Bride by William Congreve. One of the most erroneously attributed quotes in history.

no names, the Garand originally was The Woodpecker, but it has fallen by the wayside and is just called the Garand. Never had a desire to name anything really.

. . . and I just had to follow strickj on this one . . .

I've never been one for naming my guns, but my 1911 is "the pretty gun" and the Glock is "the ugly gun."

My M16A2 in boot camp was "Kelly" and my M16A4 at SOI was "Kelly 2" . . . my A4 at the unit is "Kelly 3" . . . PM me for an explanation.

we understand, you just don't want to accidentally call them by the wrong name.

Don't worry, your guns don't care if you shoot another gun.

Y'all beat me to the Vera comment. I have plans to someday get a Rec7 in 6.8 and I had plans to name it Vera. My P14 has a set of woodgrips with the decepticon logo so he is of course, Megatron. Instead of naming it Vera I've decided to name it "Flagellum Dei". It is Latin for "The Scourge of God". It was the name the Romans gave to Attila the Hun, a man I have recently discovered I draw lineage from.
